Hi chris,

Code wait is part of the built in anti-theft system BMW has for the radio. The ignition must remain in the on position for 1 continuous hour. Usually rush hour traffic does the trick. You will need the radio code to enter into the radio after it displays "CODE". just enter the code according to the buttons listed 1-6. ie if it ask for 13556, just enter the digits in that sequence. Make sure you have the correct code. If 3 unsuccessful consecutive entries are made, you will have to wait another hour.

When you say, "The ignition must remain in the on position.." Does it mean that the car needs to be fully on, or it just needs to be somewhat on? For example, I'm currently waiting for that hour, and I inserted my car keys, and turned in once (my mile display is not showing any lights), instead of fully turning on the ignition. Is this correct? Please help, thank you!

The key needs to be turned until the lights in the cluster illuminate, or if you have been driving for an hour. After the hour, the code wait should now say "code".

My problem is that i just bought a 328i 1997 and the radio is coded, so what I need is the code but this car doesnt has a owners manual, how can I activate the radio again or how can i get the code number?

Unfortunately, you will have to go to a BMW dealer with the registration papers to prove you own it. Then they can look it up in their database. If the radio was ever replaced, they may not be able to figure it out for you. they will only be able to tell you the code of the original radio that came in the car from the factory.

My battery died and I had it replaced, but in the meantime it reset everything in my car including my radio. It is asking for a 5 digit code and I have no idea what to plug-in so I can get my radio...

If you are lucky enough to still have to original owners manual and related pamphlets, there is one that describes the radio and has a card in it listing the code. Only other way is to call or go to a dealer.

My 1997 328i radio displays Phone. I have disconnected the battery and tried to reset but instead of asking for the code it still displays Phone. Please help!! My CD's won't even work.

somehow the radio memory is still thinking that there is a phone accessory attached to it and it will keep doing this until you either reset the radio or at least erase the memory inside of it. If I were you I would install a aftermarket radio in your BMW because at least this way you will be able to listen to your cd's.

328I BMW radio code-where/how do you find it

if you no longer have the coded card that came with the manual when new, you will have to bring your photo id and vehicle registration to any bmw dealer, they will supply it to you. provided you are the registrant.

If you're talking about the Anti-Theft Security code for your radio, I'm fairly sure that only a BMW Dealership would be able to retrieve and reset the radio.

You could also try disconnecting the battery terminals for 10-20 minutes, and see if it resets.
