All 4 of my power windows in my 04 Ford Explorer XLT are not working. I was not having any problems with them. Try to roll down my window the other day and none of them would even budge or make a noise. I tried all 4 doors and nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I take your comment of saying, ":I tried all four doors" to mean you tried the switch on each door, not just from the drivers seat.

One concern I have is CHILD SAFETY LOCKS. Is it possible that you have these, and that they have been engaged and turned on?

If there are no child safety locks having been engaged, and considering how all of the windows are acting up all at once, Not just this one or that one not working,

It could very well be that your power window fuse has burnt out and needs to be replaced. It is also possible that your vehicles battery is dying and just too weak.

So, I would first recommend checking all your fueses as well as any Maxi fuses under the hood, not just the fuses panels under the dash... If your'e lucky a fuse may be sitting tilted in the socket or simply burning out.

It would be helpful to know if anything has been done to alter the vehicles wiring, such as a security alarm or a new stereo, speakers, amplifier or anything else recently being installed, as it may have been done improperly. That is to say if this is a recent problem that has just started to happen.

There are many who may suggest that you have a short in your wiring... That may be true and can be a long tedious task to track down and isolate...

So, I strongly urge you to consider a NEW BATTERY. Clean Battery Cables, making sure there is no corrosion (That could cause all these things) And be sure to check all fuses. That means pulling them and visially inspecting them to make sure they are not burnt or broken.

On that note, I have replaced fuses that looked fine and the problems went away... Keep in mind how some if not many or even all of those are possibly 7 years old... They are a cheap fix... Even if you replaced each and everyone.

Sometimes I've known those who had a Keyfob (remote) whereas the battery in it was bad even though it may or may not be locking, unlocking or arming the vehicle, Consider changing the battery in it at a minimum of once a year. I think it is recommended every 6 months. But that is usually dependant on eachs persons use.

If all the fuses are good and you have installed a new battery and these things are not working, you could be looking at the actual switch or possibly a window lift motor going out and even the door lock switch burning out. Some things you can have tested and others are typically cheap enough to replace. But I would investigate looking into these, having them tested, prior to chasing a fantom wire short, which may or may not be present at all...

Even buying a second hand part at a U-pull it can be quicker, cheaper and easier verification process than chasing a short which may not be...

Good Luck to you and Happy Motoring...

Respectfully

Sounds like you have a broken wire or two in the rubber conduit between the driver's door and the door jamb. Very common issue. Power to all 4 windows goes through the master switch in the driver door.

Already did I replaced the 60A fuse and still will not work.

Ok if youre still having an issue the one thing i can tell you to do next is to remove the main control switch from the drivers door and disconnect it from the harness. Get a test light and probe around for 12V(on the harness not the control switch). You shouldn't have any power. Now turn the key to the ignition position, without turning on the truck and probe around for 12V. If there is one with 12V then your'e getting power to the control switch and therefor pointing to a faulty control switch. Now, if there is no power on the harness after you turn on the key, then there is a faulty relay or fuse.

OK some of the responces good and some are out there ,,if ur truck starts with the headlights on ur battery is most likely good .....now the blue wire in the door jam on the left sidefirs is common ,,but lets start with the most likely and less time and money consuming ,,fuse is always the first to check ,,,second is the relays ,,ur explorer has a relay that controls all the power to the windows under the dash to the right of the steering column there is a black box with tape around it ,,cut the tape remove the cover and there are 6-8 relays ( depending on model and year) large one on the right should fix ur problem .. after that and the door jam is the GEM behind the radio ,,,very $$$ so get a used one if it comes to that ..best luck

I don't know anything about your vehicle but I do know I bet the makers, the assemblers who assembled your car at the factory and auto elections know what's wrong. My 2002 ford explored xlt, right rear passanger window won't roll up? Makes a noise for a second. But if you press roll down it sounds like it is trying to. But it is stuck in the down position now....

You need a new window regulator. The cable broke.

tascafordparts.com for a discounted part from the dealer, or this part from ebay, good price.

Item number: 150634145622

Ford part number 6L2Z-7827000-BA; right rear window. $139 new.

My 1998 Explorer (4 door XLT) has the driver side window stuck in the down position. All other power windows work and I am getting power at the switch to take window down but no power to roll up. Any ideas...

Yes, we had both motors fail on the drivers side front and rear windows.
If you disconnect the motor from the switch you can test the terminals on the switch. If both sets of terminals are hot the motor should go both directions. If only 1 set is hot, most likely it is the switch. You can try to jump the motor from the working side of the switch and see if the motor will now go up. If it does go up, then the switch was bad.
Or you can verify by using a primary power source in the door wiring or fuse panel and bypass the switch.

If the motor does not work right and you are handy, you may be able to resolder the connections and fix the motor.

Windows will not operate on my 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

window relay module probably went bad. theres a window relay under the dash you have power . try getting a wiring diagram mabey at an auto parts store or the library. so you can trace the problem down . short of taking the doors apart and checking the motors that drive the windows . Old fix with the old school cars bang on the doors from the inside with fist . it sometimes works the connections on the old school cars . Its stupid but it worked to get the window up .
