Question about 2001 Chevrolet S-10
I have a 2001 S10 Crew Cab 4 DR 4.3L V6 Vortec. Bought it new in 2001 and has never changed owners. I'm having trouble strating it the first time each day. After it starts, theres no trouble restarting for the rest of the day. The next morning the same problem occurs. The starter turns the flywheel and the engine doesn't start. After cranking for a good 40 sec's to 1 min straight the engine begins to try and start and eventually starts. I've been lucky a few times doing this before the battery dies. Now the engine just diesel's for a few seconds every now and then when trying to start and sends smoke through my air intake and out of my air filter. I've bought a new battery, changed the fuel filter, put in new spark plugs and wires, the distributor cap and rotor are less than 6 mth's old. I've put in a new PCV Valve. My ignition control module checks fine after 5 tests in a row. I'm getting spark from the ignition coil and to all 6 cylinders. My fuel pump is at the correct pressure of 60 psi ignition on and drops to 51 psi engine at idle. You can hear the fuel pump prime the system and it holds pressure well after priming and turning the engine off. There are no dry rotted hoses that could cause vaccume leaks. I've tried using starter fluid with no luck. When it starts I can drive it all day and my check engine light never turns on to give a possible solution. Any possible solution would be greatly appreciated.

What you are describing is a slow start. Start your vehicle and remove the positive battery cable. if the truck dies than change your alternator. your alternator may be going bad not allowing the battery to keep a charge through the night.
If it is good than remove your starter and have it tested. any auto parts store can test it.
