Yes, they can. As long as the engines in both cars are the same. The Ranger and Bronco II are essentially the same truck and mechanical parts are interchangable between the 2.

Ford Bronco II standard tran. Has no 1st or 2nd gear.

Replace the transmission fluid. I think those used ATF, but check to be sure. (if you made the mistake of using 80/90w drain it...those transmissions were not designed for 80/90w. gear oil)

1988 ford bronco II 2.9L when i start the vehicle i put it into first gear it starts picking up speed and when i shift into 2nd it starts to sputter. I changed the map sensor and that wasnt it so i would...

I have a 90 Ranger....I had the same trouble. I swaped out the ignition module and put a bottle of alcohol dry gas in it. The MAP sensor wouldnt take care of this. Also the air charge temp. sensor my be bad. Also, clean out the throttle body. All you need is a can of Gumout. Take the hose from the air cleaner off at the engine side, spray the throttle plate, then open the throttle , spray the back-side and surrounding areas. Keep in mind it will be hard to start afterwards. Thats ok, it will start after a few cranks. Also, I suggest buying a K & N air filter. 2.9s are known for this problem. Mine has 256,000 on it and I make it a must do at least 2 times a year. And the K & N cuts down on the dirt build-up on the throttle plate. And you will notice a gas milage and power increase. Good luck!
