Question about 1993 Toyota Tercel
I had a burnt exhaust valve on my 3E 93 Tercel. Sent the head in to machine shop, they machined head and replaced 4 exh valves and all valve seals with Toyota seals. They did not replace the rocker arm seals although my Haynes manual advises to. After putting together motor when starting up I have huge amount of oil smoke coming out tail pipe and black oil dripping out of the exhaust manifold. I have taken apart twice changing gaskets each time, all gaskets fine. No water in smoke, clear bluish smoke out tail pipe, exhaust ports saturated with black oil yet clean oil still in the oil pan(new oil). Would the rocker arm springs cause this, did I damage injectors on installation causing too much fuel? car idles and runs great but neighbours thought my house was on fire so much smoke.
You either have had the wrong valve seals installed, they are physically missing, or the valves are incorrect (too loose in the guides/stem too thin). The rocker arm seals will not contribute to your issue. If it did not have the oil smoke before you took the head off, the issue is with whatever the machine shop did. Valve seals have to fit TIGHT, or oil will go down the valve stem into the intake.
Take the head back to the machine shop & tell them to fix it. For free.
