Question about 1993 Toyota Tercel

1993 TOYOTA TERCEL 1500cc Valve Seals Replaced now smokes much worse

I had a burnt exhaust valve on my 3E 93 Tercel. Sent the head in to machine shop, they machined head and replaced 4 exh valves and all valve seals with Toyota seals. They did not replace the rocker arm seals although my Haynes manual advises to. After putting together motor when starting up I have huge amount of oil smoke coming out tail pipe and black oil dripping out of the exhaust manifold. I have taken apart twice changing gaskets each time, all gaskets fine. No water in smoke, clear bluish smoke out tail pipe, exhaust ports saturated with black oil yet clean oil still in the oil pan(new oil). Would the rocker arm springs cause this, did I damage injectors on installation causing too much fuel? car idles and runs great but neighbours thought my house was on fire so much smoke.

Thank you ToyotaEd. Thats exactly what I thought and did...this time installing original Toyota seals. Installed again, problem still there. Had no other choice but to change rings. This was the problem, oil seal rings stuck to pistons, all 4!!?? this car showed no signs of burning oil prior to rebuild. Maybe because machine shop machined the head as a precaution the compression increased slightly to cause problem to appear, Im guessing. All I know is it is now running fine. Machine shop told me Toyota has a bulletin out regarding problem oil seal rings on 3E toyota motors, not confirmed .This one really confused me, all compression tests were fine yet oil was billowing out tail pipe.Note the compression rings were fine but changed anyway. Hope this helps someone else in the future with same problem.

You either have had the wrong valve seals installed, they are physically missing, or the valves are incorrect (too loose in the guides/stem too thin). The rocker arm seals will not contribute to your issue. If it did not have the oil smoke before you took the head off, the issue is with whatever the machine shop did. Valve seals have to fit TIGHT, or oil will go down the valve stem into the intake.
Take the head back to the machine shop & tell them to fix it. For free.

The compression rings do just that: control the compression. The oil control rings are in charge of keeping if from ca have great compression, and it will smoke like a steam engine if the oil control rings are siezed or worn...

No compression in one cylinder in a 1993 Toyota tercel

Could be a burnt valve or bad set of piston rings on that cylinder. Probably would be more feasible to replace the engine with a lower mileage one.

Do I have to use additional sealer on a metal head gasket for a 1995 Toyota tercel 1.5 dohc?

Did you have the head shaved? If not it is warped and will not seal. To answer you no, it is rare that any sealer is used on any gaskets on most engine parts. There are a few places where oil pans meet seals or valve covers with over head cams that do, but most modern engines do not need sealant on quality gaskets unless there is surface damage.
You did not mention if you torqued correctly and use new head bolts. This is considered very important.

My 93 toyota tercel idles very low it wil shut off if you dont give it enough gas when you start out or when you brake

This could just be dirt on the intake which can be fixed using spray or carb cleaner. It could be loose vacuum lines or a dirty or faulty IAC valve.
