Question about 1986 Chevrolet Camaro

2 Answers

A/C problems I'm sorry Guill I have not explained myself properly, the car has been stripped out, the dash and most of the ducting, I renewed the sponge on the flaps [witch now work since you told me they were vacuum operated] The air comes through the centre and end ducts but not the ducts on the dash cap they have been seald off. Hardly any air comes through the long vents on the dash cap that directs air onto the screen. Is it possible for the accuators to get out of sequence or have the the converters just stuffed it up . cheers Mike

Thanks for the diagram guill, and accordingly all the right coloured tubes are connected properly, everything works but no air comes through. Is it because the ducting has been cut down to put the steering through or is it the connection between the bottom section and the upper half that connects the two together

When I pulled it apart the top and bottom parts were joined by a thick piece of foam glueing the two parts together, but it still did not work.A THOUGH. As the holes in the bottom section do not marry up to holes in the top section did they change the ducting in any way in later models.

Hi guill, The black hose is connected properly it is connected directly to the intake manifold but there is no holding tank. The Vin number sugestes the car was a 6 cylinder but along the way some one has installed a TPI V8 so I guess theres bound to be things missing .

The number 26 on the figure Is: Vacuum Reservoir Tank.

Is used to hold the Vacuum on the actuator while the car is accelerated.....

My park ave has heat on on side of the dash and not the other.all climate controls are turned to max,90 degrees

It is most likely that you have a trap door in your ac/heater duct system that is not functioning properly.

It could also be that one of our furry little friends have mad a nest in your duct system.

Either way, unfortunately, you or someone will most likely have to remove a few of the parts under the dash to correct the problem.

The heat will only work on the driver side

there are several problems you can have here. One is the duct for the passenger side has come off. the second is it clogged. the third is the vent door for the passenger side is stuck shut. If you are not familiar going into or behind your dash. Let you mechanic deal with it. The last one you may be able to handle. This door is by the heater core, and you can open it manually. If you have a clogged line or its come loose. You will have to remove the dash to get to it. sorry, its the way its built.. hope this helps. sorry I can't do more for you

I need help!!! my wifes ring fell in the vent on the dash. I thing its the vent for the defrost. Is their a way that I can get into the duct? An If so how?

you'll need to pull the dash out. I would sugest taking it to someone who knows more than the novice man(like myself). Dashes of newer models seem to have more clips than screws. if you crack a plastic tab for one of those....
