Loss of power at 2400 rpm's

Have a 84 nissan 300zx non turbo, 5 speed, 119000 miles. This problem comes and goes. When I drive the car (no matter which gear) and get to 2400 rpm's the vehicle just shuts down, no power and ac stops blowing cold. If I stay on the gas pedal and let the rpm's drop to 1500 the car starts running again. I can trick the car into running again by putting the clutch in and let the rpm's drop below 1500 and slow down a couple mph, then let off the clutch and the car pulls. As long as I keep the rpm's below 2400 no problem.

Have already changed the fuel filter with a clear filter.

Can any one help please!!! my 84 300zx AE gradually looses its power whether it's in driving or parking mode. It will restart easily every time. Before the engine looses its power, I step on the gas (while driving/parking), the engine will roar very smoothly and normally. But once it start to loose its power, even when stepping on the gas, it still gradually dies. I have replaced fuel filter but did not help.

Check your mass airflow meter. If it's bad, at least on my 1990 300ZX, the car won't rev over 2400RPM (it's a safeguard built into the ECU of the car). Grab one from a scrapyard and swap it in and see if that fixes the issue.

Obvioustly check to make sure that you have oil in it. If thats OK then remove all drive belts and retest for noise. Could be something else such as A/C compressor. Let me know what you find.

That means the transmission is going into Limp mode - something's wrong that is making the car believe it can be damaged by the speeds the upper gears will allow you to reach. For starters, check the fluid level (or just change it - it's not a bad idea), and disconnect the battery for an hour or so to put the ECU into relearn mode - this will clear current fault codes and allow you a fresh start to see if the condition reappears, or if it was a fluke failure of some part that caused the car to repeatedly go into limp mode.
