I totally screwed up and forgot to get my oil changed in my 2007 Crysler Pacifica. Like really screwed up---over 10,000 miles over the oil change screwed up!!! I was driving down the road and the oil light came on and then the car seemed to lock up. My power steering seems to turn off and I was able to pull to the side of the road. My husband added oil as it was low. We then took it to Walmart (bc no one else was open) to get and oil change. They didn't state anything was wrong. We drove the car for about 60 miles with no problems. Then, after driving about 10 miles the next morning, the engine light has come on. Any idea what could be the problem?.

First, Wallyworld "techs" are not allowed to tell you anything is wrong with your car. If the light is on and the engine is knocking, chances are good that there is internal bearing damage. If the engine seems to be running OK, the passageway to the pressure sending switch may be plugged with debris or the screen that the oil passes through on it's way to the pump may be obstructed with sludge. The only real reliable way of cleaning that is to remove the pan. Only other thing you could try is using some engine oil flush, changing the oil again and using a synthetic oil (Wallyworld synthetic is made by Quaker State...good) and add a pint of marvel oil to it (adds extra detergents and solvents). This is not fool-proof and as I said, any knocking, the engine is gone...don't bother. If it works, change the oil again at 2,000 then at 3,000 and continue using a good grade of oil and marvel (for insurance).
You can also install a mechanical pressure gauge in place of the sending unit...that way you can read the actual oil pressure (above 20psi hot is OK, best is above 30 at idle).

Maintanance

That question is very tough to answer.
It depends on driving conditions and other factors. If the vehicle is driven 5,000 to 10,000 miles per year and not in dusty areas or in city traffic, you can change it at 5000 or 6000 miles.
If the vehicle is driven more than 10,000 miles per year, or in dusty conditions, or city traffic, the oil should be changed more often.
And using synthetic oil changes the formula.

Service lights

Well, let me just say that if you have gone 10,000 miles without servicing your brand-new Lexus, you are a LOT braver than I would ever be. I certainly do not have the gold available to pay for the possible consequeces of pulling that one off. When was the last time you even checked your engine oil level? I have seen MANY vehicles run completely out of oil between 3000 mile services and completely DESTROY the engines! 10,000 miles is REALLY taking HUGE chances!

You may have 2 separate problems...One for the oil needing service and one for a problem with your AWD system. However, Toyota and Lexus are known for disabling things like AWD, ABS, Traction Control, etc. when the engine computer detects things like low oil pressure or low oil levels. This can cause several warning lamps to all come on at the same time.

GET YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED!!! Hopefully, you will be one of the lucky ones and have not done any serious damage by not getting it serviced when you should have.

Your oil should be changed every 3000 miles (Or every 5000 miles if you are using full-synthetic oil). You should also check the oil level between services AT LEAST every 1000 miles (or more often, if you are having to add oil at 1000 miles). For a properly maintained vehicle, checking the oil level between oil changes SHOULD seem a total waste of time. However, it is the single, MOST IMPORTANT thing you can spend your time on when it comes to getting a lot of miles from your investment. If your engine starts using (burning) oil or if it starts leaking oil, you will not know about it in time to save your engine if you are not in the habit of checking it on a regular basis.

HI,I HAVE A CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2006 3.5L W SYNTHETIC OIL ,EVERY HOW MANY MILES NEED TO BE CHANGED?

Everyone say's 3000 miles. I was a technician for 16 years, I own three cars. One with 194000, one with 140000 and one with 107000 miles on it. I change my oil every 4000 to 5000 miles. From my experience most engine problems are from a lack of oil, not from a lack of oil changes. Remember to always keep an eye on your oil level.

How often should I change the oil in my 2002 Nissan Frontier?

Some people change oil at 3000 miles, most people don't really care or keep track
I would say 3 times a year,if you drive less than 10,000 per year
4 times a year ,up to 20,000 miles per year driven
Use at least semi or full synthetic oil

I have heard oil changing has gone up to 7500 -10,000 miles is that true

yes it is but you need to check your owners manual that came with your car and be sure.some places will change it at 3000. just because people are still in the mind fram this is what i'm suppose to do. but due to better oils and better cars. it isnt nessary to change it as often.

How many miles you have to change oil in 2007 e

Depends on the type of oil, temperature, and whether short hops or highway, but in general one changes oil twice a year. With the better synthetics you could go a whole year.

Oil changes

I'm a c230 owner and when i visited the dealer they said "don't worry for a light will come on to let you know it's time. Should be at 10,000 miles but there is a sensor to have it come on sooner if the oil needs it. cost approx $248.

Good luck

Oil was changed and check engine light was not reset

This is really easy! Please follow these directions:

Turn the key ON

Look at the odometer, and verify that it displays "ODO" and the total mileage traveled. If it is on "Trip A" or "Trip B", press the black stick next to the odometer to read "ODO", and the total miles traveled.

Turn the key OFF.

Press in, and HOLD the black trip meter reset button, hold it in.
DO not release it.

Turn the key ON; do NOT start the engine

Observe the Odometer display. The total mileage traveled will disappear, and you will see 5 dashes, then 4, then 3, then 2, then 1 dash, and finally, 5 zeros. Then, the total mileage traveled will redisplay.

Release the black trip meter reset stick.

This completes the reset procedure, and the light will be back on in 5,000 miles, to remind you of you next oil change.

Hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa. Happy Thnkasgiving!
