The tire pressure indicator light just came on and stayed on. The tires are fine but light still stays on. Where exactly is the little black button under the driver's side dashboard? Thanks for your help.

2008 Highlander Sport. There is no button under dash other than the ABS

    button. Any other cures?

I have a 2008 Highlander Sport with about 8,000 miles on it. The TPMS light came on and stayed on. We checked and corrected the tire pressure in all tires except the spare and did the reset button this morning with the car started. The reset did not turn the light off with the car started. Does the car need to be turned off to reset the system? Should the spare be checked as well?

2006 Highlander. I had a tire replaced and the light came on so I reset it. It was off for a few miles but came back on and won't reset again. Do I need to initialize the system for the new tire to get the light to stay off?

My 2005 Toyota Corolla tire pressure light keeps coming back on after tire rotation. I press the button next to steering wheel. But it keeps mocking me and coming back on!!

  • kbhathcock May 11, 2010

Just a follow up: I took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. They reset the system (which I had already done), and we did not check the spare tire. I did not mention the spare tire to them, but did mention the light. Wondering if getting the tires rotated helped??? Come to think of it, I think the light came on right around the time it was time to get my tires rotated. Anyway, the light is off now. And for others with this problem, you REALLY have to hunt for that reset button. I almost never found it. It's WAY under the dash, but, it's there, at least on the 2008 model.

The problem is more than likely your spare tire. The system monitors all five tires. Check the pressure in your spare tire.

Look under the driver side of the dashboard for a small black button. Start the vehicle, and press & hold the button until the tire light blinks 3 times.

Dashboard tire pressure light is on

The tire pressure sensor light being on (after the initial warm-up/self-test when the ignition is turned on) means one of 3 things: a) you have a tire with low pressure (including the spare), b) one of the tire pressure sensors has a bad battery, or c) the system has a malfunction. First, make sure all tires have good pressure and then have your local dealership/auto shop attempt to reset the fault. If this doesn't work, you are in for a difficult time dealing with the other two issues (batteries are not cheap, and neither is diagnosing a bad system)...sorry!

Cabin (tire) indicator light.

No, it will stay on cause the system is set up for tire pressure monitors. If you change to standard valve stems it wont be able to read tire pressure, therefore it thinks its low om air and the light stays on.

The light for my tires has been blinking mymechanic tried to reset but will not turn off. My 4wd light is also on and does not work. I was able to turn it on but after I turned off the check 4 wd is on....

First open drivers door and look for tire pressure specs then check all the tires pressures and inflate to the specs on door jam. This should make the tire light off. As for the 4wd light i would think the 4wd indicator light switch is faulty or has a bad connection or ground.

Tire pressure guage indicator in 2006 Toyota Tacoma

Yes, this is indictating at least 1 low tire of the 5, maybe more...Check ALL 5 tire pressures and set them to 29lbs, as per the specs and then turn your key to"ON"...then push and hold the button under the steering collumn until the light on the dash flashes 3 times, indicating that you have re-set the computer to recognize the pressure that you now have set....

Good luck.

Take it to the dealer, you may have a bad gauge in the tire. I had the same problem and they finally fixed it.

TPMS indicator doesn't reset after tire pressure is normalized

Fixing the tire and setting all the tire at the proper pressure should turn the light off automatically. You might have to go to a Dodge Dealership.
The only reason that I can think of is the pressure sensor was damage when the tire repair was performed. To patch a tire, they need to take the tire off the rim. The pressure sensor can be easily damaged during this process if they are not carefully.
Just keep that possibility in mind.

Reset the Low Pressure Tire Indicator Light

If you have the silver-metal valve cores, on the rims, there is NO reset proceedure. Under the valve cores is a transmitter, which is battery powered. It sends a "yes/no" signal to the tire pressure ECM. Note that ALL 5 tires transmit to the ECM. The signal is "at or above" the specific target pressure needed, or is is below the target pressure. What to do: get a GOOD tire pressure gauge, not those cheap ones that look like pencils. Set the tire pressures to the specification, INCLUDING the spare. Your light should go out. If not, there is the possibility that one of the sensors is innoperative, and that will involve a trip to the dealership, to get it replaced under warranty. Try the tire pressure resetting, adn don't forget the spare. Get back to me if this works. Glad to help, and thanks for choosing FixYA.

Lexus ls430 2004 tire pressure indicator

Make sure you check the spare tire too; had this problem on another model and the dealer said it was the spare which is also monitored.  Good news in case you need it one day.
