Question about 1997 Jaguar XK8
When I turned on my radio today the display screen showed "PHONE" and nothing worked except the volume control but there was no sound (I could see the numbers change). I could not change "PHONE" to the AM/FM radio, or the CD, or the Cassette. The display stayed on even when the car was off and the key removed. The only way I could get the display to turn off was to remove the fuse. Can you help?
You should reboot the system, sometimes these cars hicup so to speak.
Disconnect the battery, both sides, then with it still disconnected turn the key to crank 3-4 times (with the battery disconnected, this just discharges all the ecu's and clears any held memorys)
Reconnect the battery (pos + first)
After that you need to relearn the windows, with the key on or the car running send the windows all the way up, then one at a time, hold the button to bring 1 down and continue to hold for 5 seconds once it is all the way down, do the same for the up position, repeat on the other side and you should be good to go.

on the base of the antenna mast is a chrome nut (14mm?) unsrew that, then turn radio on , it will eject the guide cable. then insert the new cable, turn radio off and wait like 15sec then the motor will take in the new cable then put the chrome nut back on> thats it

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
