Multiple misfires usually are caused by a bad crank sensor, some times it can be a bad cam sensor but that usually does not go bad.

Hi bmuller,

While the engine is running, slowly remove the oil fill cap. If there is a heavy vacuum pulling against the cap I would suspect a failed crank case vent valve. If the valve has failed the most common signs are a rough running engine with misfires and smoke out the tail pipe. If this is not the case, try clearing the faults and running the engine without the air mass meter connected. The air mass meter on this particular engine management system is the second weakest link.

Had 1 lifter making noise, so I replaced all lifters. Now it has random misfire and blows blue smoke, which it never had before.

Blue exhaust smoke usually suggests the engine is burning oil. Oil in the cylinders can foul the spark plugs and cause the misfire. Have you checked if the head gasket is OK? Check if there is any oil floating in the coolant bottle or any white 'cream' like liquid mixed in the oil.
If the gasket is OK your issue gets a bit more serious. You could have PCV issues worn valve stem seals, worn piston rings, and depending on the age and engine fitted you could also have a turbo oil supply issue.

2004 nissan frontier miss

Blue/grey smoke is the engine burning oil, White/grey is Coolant in the cylinders. This could be a head gasket issue. Check your coolant tank for oil floating on the top and check the oil filler hole for a 'Mayonnaise' like substance. These are the common signs for this.

White smoke cylinder misfire and smell of gas on my Volvo 2002 v70xc

4 cylinder? Blown head gasket. 6 cylinder, look to the throttle body. It has coolant lines on it, it can and will corrode though the throttle throwing coolant in the intake. 1 And 2 are the first to misfire. But usually have multiple misfires.

Fault p0303, p0300, p0306

Those codes are all misfire codes. you have misfires in cyl 3 and 6. the 300 means multiple cylinder misfire. Id first start by checking your coils plugs and wires.

Got a bmw 330ci all 6 cylinders misfiring white smoke from exchust no loss of oil or coolant plus cold air being blown into cab....HELP!!!!!!!

It must be loosing coolant if there is white smoke (or steam) out of exhaust, heater will be cold due to lack of coolant, radiator may be full but I suspect engine block will contain no coolant & may have caused an air lock so radiator may still be full, sounds like cylinder head gasket has blown

Engine codes displayed on OBD tool

You might want to start with spark plugs. I'm not sure if that year has coil on plug ignition, but if it doesn't, spark plug wires are probably in order as well. Some of the O2 sensor faults could be caused by the poor ignition your mis-fires are causing. Sensor 1 is closest to the engine, sensor 2 is further away, on the other side of the Catalytic converter.

I would check out the EGR valve. That maybe what is causing all the misfires.
