Crawl under you need a swivel socket and preferably an air rachet they are a pain in the @ss to get at on the back of the motor you are better off letting someone with a lift do the work it will save you back/neck.arms/ and mind good luck -please rate -jeff

1997 mazda e2000 van which is blowing black smoke


if it takes 5-10 mins of running before black smoke disappear i think you could have broken rings causing engine oil into the combustion chamber. you could observe white smoke if you have just changed oil.
solution would be to replace piston rings. it would save u a lot if u could diy.

You may need a tune up, spark plugs and plug wires. I would also consider replacing the fuel filter, if it has been replaced. Also check the air filter.

check it for a disconnected plug wire or a broken plug, also the wires have a tendancy to burn up the boot check your boots
