Question about 1984 Chevrolet Camaro
If I understand you question, you are wondering why you factory wiring isn't working? If that's the case check the Ignition switch, not cylinder, could be bad. If you were refeering to the jerry rigged, do you have the wire on the correct terminal? If so, check starter.

Did you use the same gauge wire? May be the wire gauge is not heavy enough to carry the current to turn engine over. Does starter make a clicking noise. Check battery voltage.
