Question about 2003 Jaguar S-Type
Can;t get my gear shift to move from park to drive
YOU must press the brake before you can take it out of park

Rock the car back and forth while somebody puts the car in gear. Don't run them over lol. I had the same problem with my jag s-type if I parked on a incline. The first time it happened I broke the cable cause I was mad. There went a $1000. Then it happened with the new one again and I found that by rocking the car while putting it in gear worked.

I, as well as a guy I work with both drive s-types. He had this problem with his.
The problem is with a cable that runs from the shifter to the transmission. There is a bracket which holds the cable in place. This bracket is prone to coming loose and when that happens, your s-type won't shift out of neutral. Use loctite to resecure the small bracket and you'll be back on the road.
