Re: 1995 Subaru Legacy Gas Gauge
Probably your sender unit. do you drive a wagon? if so go into boot area and lift up all your carpet. just behind the rear seat there are 3 or 4 bolts, you need to undo these. then lift out the sender unit and take it to someone who can test it for you.

where do I find the reset button for a 2009 Subaru Legacy? The gas gauge and the display for how many miles a gallon I am averaging is blinking constantly and occasionally it shows numbers ranging from 2mpg to 65 mpg.. I am thinking that if I am able to reset the car system then it might fix it. Will this help? I need some advice..
do you have battery power will the car turn over
there is a set of fuses in the engine compartment check these as many cars have a system that allows the car to run till the battery dies check your alternator
It's probably your speedo head, the gauge itself. I put several used ones in our car to no avail. When I finally went to the dealer they needed to know my cars serial numbers then sold me a gauge that matched my car. Sounds goofy but it worked! I didled with this problem for over a year on and off before that.
If you're fuel gauge stopped working, this would not affect the fuel pump or pump relay. More then likely, the sending unit is at fault. You may check fuses to see if this vehicle has a fuse for the gauge. some do. The fuel pump has a relay under hood and also a 30 amp fuse.Has separate circuits for gauges.I would be looking at the sending unit. Good Luck, Sinserely, shastalaker7
