Question about 1999 Lincoln Navigator

Leak in left rear of motor

I have a 1999 navigator and recently it overheated on me. I filled the radiator and found that the leak was coming from the passenger side on the rear of the motor. There is no leak unless I turn on the A/C on high. Which leads me to think, it is the condensor or evaporative cooler. I did notice that I can still run the A/C on low without a leak. Any suggestions as to where the problem may actually be is appreciated.

Regards,

Kobe

It is not the heater core since I bypassed it awhile ago. I will check the control valve.

    Tx very much

I just found the problem. It is the water pump hose that goes through the intake manifold. Is there a way to change it without removing the intake manifold. It seems Lincoln went out of their way to make an easy fix it, into a major expense. Can I bypass the hose by plugging it(it is a heater hose). Or is it vital to engine cooling functions? Any help is appreciated.

Sure sounds like a blown heater core or control valve

Hey, radiator fluid is leaking from the back left of my navigator

What happen is there is a return and a supply to your heater core, but there are two heater cores a front and a back if you look underneath the truck you will see lines going to a core out back. I dont believe there are relief opening back there, but maybe a drain. most likely the lines going to it need to be replaced. good luck

1999 pontiac grand am gt is overheating i replaced the thermostat, waterpump, and the upper hose gave it a full flushing and still leaking antifreeze and now it started to overheat on me. at first it would...

First check that the thermostat was installed correctly. It will not work properly if it was installed upside down. If this is the original radiator, it most likely is plugged up with deposits and corrosion. It needs to be replaced with a new one.

Coolant empties in approximately 2 blocks of driving

Check the water pump or the hose going to the waterpump. There is a peephole on the bottom of waterpumps, so if its bad it leaks right out the hole

99 deville head gasket leak?

A head gasket leak is usually indicated (among other things) by continous overheating of the motor, and subsequent loss of coolant.
It can also be indicated by the presence of engine combustion gas bubbles in the coolant resevoir.
Ensure the coolant system has no external leaks, such as faulty hose/s, radiator etc.

Ensure motor tune or other motor mechanical condition is not the cause of overheating.
I assume the motor is actually running hot.

Check cooling fans are operating ok (as necessary when car warms up):- if not check
1) fuse,
2) relay operation,
3) heat sensor switch.

Check/replace the thermostat,
Check the coolant pressure cap is serviceable & of correct rating,
Ensure cooling system is correctly filled, bleed off any airlocks as necessary when re-filling,
Ensure radiator hose on suction side of waterpump is not collapsing at engine revs above idle (due softening),
If the motor has been severely overheated, the head gasket could be blown - look for combustion gas bubbles in the coolant resevoir.

How long as the radiator cap been on the car? If it is from the factory, replace it with a new cap and see if that helps.

Good Luck
