I have a 1998 Buick Century Custom with a 3.1 litre engine. I turned the car off when I got home from an errand and went to start the engine again because I forgot something and all I got were clicks out of the starter. I bought a good used starter from a reputable used parts dealer and I can't even get a click out of this new starter. I've triple checked all the wires and they are all OK. I just can't figure out why it is having this problem. I have all the dash and head lights, but can't get anything out of the starter now at all. I put a battery charger on it and it's pulling 4 volts. I can't get the electric windows to work but the radio and cassette and headlights work fine. What could be causing this problem?

I have the same problem, but on my 97 buick century. I thought I had a bad battery because i just needed a jump. when it didnt work, and just got clicks, i was told i need a new starter solenoid. in the process of waiting to get a diagnostic test done to see what's going on. anyone know the cost of the part(s) and labor?
I had the same problem with my starter. In total I think it costed me about $400 in parts and labor.
