Sounds like you may have broken so-called window glide rollers (aka window regulator bushings) which are the green plastic and metal clips that secure the window glass to the scissors lifts. Each window has two.

The belt ratcheting mechanism is knackered. I have tried twice to fix this problem and simply could not do it. My ultimate solution was to buy a used belt from Goldwing Saab in NY and install that. It is about a 35 to 40 minute job in the verts.

SOURCE: saab 93 window not closing fully

1. put key to ON, hold window button down until all the way down, then do same for up, repeat one more time until you hear BEEP. You just calibrated your window. You will need to do this everytime you disconnect your battery.
or...
2. anytime window has power and has automatically gone down, hold the X (window lock button) down while holding up on your window button, again untill you hear BEEP. not sure what this does, but it fixed the problem for me.

As mentioned here, this worked for me on a 55 reg:

Disconnect the battery for 30 seconds. Then follow the calibrate instructions that can be found under "Windows" in the owner's manual. Took less than 5 minutes in all to fix.

The window motor is working too hard go to Napa and ask for the silicon lube made for windows and lube up the window rims and guides this should allow the motor to work less hard.

You need to do a window reset. Its in your owners manual

This is a quote from the workshop manual

Note
? A driver side window will not fully close automatically under following the conditions:
? The battery has been disconnected during vehicle maintenance or for other reasons.
? The power window main switch connector, or driver-side power window motor connector has been
disconnected.
? Carry out the following procedure to resume operation:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Press the driver side power window main switch and fully open the driver side window.
3. Pull up the driver side power window main switch to manual-up position to fully close the driver side window,
and keep holding the switch up at the position for about 2 seconds to complete initial setting.

TWO-STEP DOWN FUNCTION OPERATIVE/NON-OPERATIVE SWITCHING PROCEDURE

Note
? By following the procedure below, the two-step down function is switched to non-operative when it is
operative, and to operative when it is non-operative.

Turn the Ignition on

How to replace low beam bulb on toyota avalon XL 2009

Here's what I did to change the driver's side halogen low beam bulb #9006. Do so at your own risk.

1. First ensure fuses are OK. There are four(4) 15A fuses in the fuse box under the hood - drivers side. All are clearly mapped out on underside of fuse box cover. I used the continuity tester circuit on a VOM to ensure they were OK.

2. Remove large plastic shroud that runs across from one side of the top front under the hood of vehicle to the other side. 5 plastic pins held mine in place. Once off -- you'll be able to see your vehicles radiator cap. Removing this helps provide some additional access and leverage to better work with.

3. Remove battery negative cable - 10mm socket

4. Remove battery hold down bracket - rod - one(1) 10mm bolt at front - one(1) 10mm nut on rod. Deep socket 10mm helps with the 10mm nut.

5. Remove battery positive cable - 10mm socket

6. Remove battery and plastic battery tray

7. You should see the halogen low beam bulb #9006 in front of the fuse box(drivers side). Mine has a brown electrical plug connected to it. It helps to first remove and place out of the way - the parking light which is just to the left - the assembly for mine is light gray in color. Doing so gets that wire out of the way. One less distraction when you reach in to remove the low beam halogen bulb #9006.

8. Remove electrical connection from halogen low beam bulb #9006. There's a locking tab on the bottom - press in and while doing that - push down on the electrical connector from the top. It comes off without a great deal of effort.

9. Remove halogen low beam bulb #9006 by turning counter-clockwise - looking at the bulb from the back. Mine did not want to twist loose right away. Go slowly - take your time. It should eventually come loose. #9006 bulb came out easily even with the fuse box nearby.

10. Install new halogen low beam bulb #9006. I opted for a $10 Wal-Mart Sylvania #9006.

11. Reconnect electrical connection to the new halogen low beam bulb #9006.

12. Clean battery tray and terminals on battery + connections on battery cables.

13. Install battery tray and battery

14. Connect positive battery cable to battery - 10mm

15. Connect hold-down and rod + one(1) 10mm bolt at front and one(1) 10mm nut that goes on rod at rear.

16. Connect negative battery terminal - BUT - before doing so - have your remote locking/unlocking device handy. As soon as you connect the negative battery cable to the batteries negative terminal - the horn will sound(alarm). Quickly depress the UNLOCK button on your vehicles remote. Finish tightening the negative cable. You should also see that the low beam is once again functional as it will come on when the alarm is sounded.

17. Reinstall large plastic shroud and all lock down tabs

18. Start car and set clock/radio settings/etc.

19. There is a procedure to resync the power windows. The following provided by inov8 from another forum.

Copied from TSB PD002-05

NOTE:
Anytime the battery terminal has been disconnected, please initialize the driver's door
power
window and front passenger's door power window after reconnecting the
battery terminal.

With ignition switch in the "ON" position, do the following:

1. Push down and hold the driver's door power
window switch to completely open
the
window.
2. Pull and hold up the driver's door power
window switch until the window closes.
Continue holding the switch for approximately one second until the switch changes
from blinking to a constant illumination.
3. Check for proper operation of the "one-touch open and close" function by fully
pushing the switch briefly to the "DOWN" and "UP" positions.

At this time the power
window switch for the passenger's door window should
be blinking.
4. Push down and hold the passenger's door power
window switch to completely open
the
window.
5. Pull and hold up the passenger's door power
window switch until the window closes.
Continue holding the switch for approximately one second until the switch changes
from blinking to a constant illumination.
6. Check for proper operation of the "one-touch open and close" function by fully
pushing the switch briefly to the "DOWN" and "UP" positions.

Sunroof initialization is similar.

20. There is a procedure to resync power seats. Extracted from factory service doc:

Using seat switches - fully slide seat fwd. - fully recline seatback fwd. - fully raise seat cushion and head rest.

Using seat switches - fully slide the seat rearward - fully recline the seatback rearward - fully lower seat cushion and head rest.

Electric window wont stay up

It sounds like you may have a bad switch. It could possibly be removed, cleaned and reassembled/ reinstalled and work fine, otherwise it will have to be replaced.

Hood is not retracting fully into catches that hold it down, side flaps also stay up,will then not close electricaly from this position, only manualy

There is a micro switch in the latch that seems to fail too often. Does the over-head warning lamp continually flash ? If so, this is an electrical problem.

The side flaps should lower when the top is fully secured in either up or down positions.

The side flap motors seem to be about as durable as the rear side window lift assembly in this vehicle, which is not long. Side rear window lift assemblies are replaced a lot when the vehicle is around 5 to 6 years old..

Due to the complexity of the system and the need for a factory manual or experience to locate all the safety features and switches to this system, you need to consult your dealer.

In my 03 mercedes e320 wagon the sunroof opens only half way when auto open is used. Is this normal?

No. Push the open switch until glass is fully open....continue to hold switch for 5 seconds to allow motor to memorize open position...ditto closing.

This also applies to your side windows. Any time battery disconnected or voltage drops below 10.5 volts all convenience memories need resetting like this.

Hold window switch down fully for 5 seconds after glass has gone fully down. .....release switch

Repeat for other windows. Switch must be in second detent position when doing this.

NEVER boost charge this vehicles battery in the car unless GROUND connector disconnected from battery...serious electrical damage can occur if this is not done.

Try "helping" the window the window to go down by pressing your hand agaist it and pushing it down . If it moves then the motor is not gone. My 02 Century driver window gets slow when it's cold or dirty. Try spraying some ArmorAll into the tracks on the door. This will not only help flush out dirt but lubricate as well
