Opening hood on 1992 Ford Explorer

I can't seem to consistently open the hood of my truck.  There is a wire hanging out front that is connected but in pulling, does not "Pop" the hood.  I can reach the latch in the grill, but it doesn't seem to release completely to "pop" the hood either.  Please help before I blow the engine for lack of oil!  Thank you!

I had the same problem with my hood. I had that handy wire hanging out of the front but it didn't want to release the hood. The cable was jammed and the hood had to be manually released via ratchet. After you can get the hood open maneuver the cable under the plastic piece where the hood meets the grill to stop this from happening again.

2002 ford explorer front end flapping sound. Started truck this morning (in MI very cold right now) & was normal. About 5 minutes out, started a flapping sound that sounds like it's under the hood

Stop engine. Open hood and look at serpetine belt. Check fan shroud for flopping and being loose. Look under front of vehicle for plastic part hanging down and sometimes called an air deflector. Air deflectors seem to hit curb bumpers when you pull in and snow banks can tear them loose.

How do i open the hood.

there should be a lever that is on the bottom edge of dash that is under the steering wheel along the trim. if the handle is broken you can use pliers to grab the cable and pull it to get the hood to realse. if you found all that and i seems to work ok then when pulling the release lever have a friend hit or shake the hood to get it to pop up a little so that you can open it all the way.

1992 Ford Explorer Sport. Outside door handle not

Door handle seems loose and not connected? Then the plastic clip broke inside the door. Take off the door panel, 3 screws, and door lock cap and plastic insert around inside door handle. pry around the bottom first, and go up, when you reach the top, pull up, please be carefull to not break any more plastic. you will see a squarish opening midway up the door toward the latch. reach in and pull a rod toward the opening. You see a broken piece of plastic on the tip? if so take it off and get the replacement part for it at an autoparts store, install the new one and your set. I have broke to many of these so i ended up bending the end of the rod and using a nut to hold it in.:]

Hood cable is broken at the latch, cannot get hood open

you might have to go under the car between grill and radiator and locate where the cable went to the hood latch and use pliers to grab latch to open it
