Question about 1997 Ford Mustang Cobra

Check engine light on

Just purchased a 1997 ford mustang cobra. Car is running great, but last night the check engine light came on. Still running fine. Any suggestions?

There are 100+ conditions that trigger a check eng light, run a self test and get the code or codes. I have attached a list of codes, it says GM but the codes are for the most part generic to all cars and light trucks 1996 and up, any of these will set the light.

You should check the engine coolant temprature sensor (ECT).
