Question about 2001 Cadillac DeVille

1 Answer

Intermittant starting problems

Car unreliable--back to dealer many times-still can't fix. Always starts 1st time in AM. Then might or might not restart throughout the day.Length of run or time appears to make no difference. No codes appear in memory. Autostart installed at purchase in 2001. Problem started last year. Dealer kept blaming autostart--had it removed and car is still a problem. Turn key, the dash lights but car does not start and there is no sound. For every time you turn the key to attempt start have to wait about an hour and can then sometimes start. Asked them to disconnect security module and they say they can't. Doesn't matter which key--still happens. Will NEVER own another Cady.

My grandmother's car does the exact same thing. She is 82 years old and we worry when she goes anywhere because we don't know if she will be stuck or not. She did take it and get a new starter but that didn't help any.

Could be the Crankshaft positioning sensor. Had the same problem with my 2001 DTS. Cost to replace: About $200 from a non-dealer repair shop.

How do I tune up a 2001 taurus ses?

There have been no tune-ups in 25 years

Technically since 1980 some 32 years

Only spark plugs left from those days

The ECM,PCM in your case,or the computer
if that suits you,it does the tuning

That is a term the repair shops should stop using,
a long time ago, they have enough issues, without
misleding people.

You should have a maintenance log, for all your vehicles
You should have at least, an owner manual

Clean MAF Sensor ---every year
Brake Fluid---every 2 years
Air Filter,Cabin Filter---every 3 years
Spark Plugs,Trans Fluid, Power Steering Fluid ---every 3 years
Gas Filter--Every 3 years

Brakes--- need to come apart for inspection, rust removal & lube-every year
The System should be Scanned a couple times a year for stored data,
codes & other issues
If you look into the computer & monitor how it see things, you may avoid
problems & break down repairs

Just a few items, always something to do,have to be proactive

My 1990 plymouth voyager will not start at times, other times it starts just fine, I have replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter but that has not helped , we have taken it to the plymouth dealer in two...

to clarify, are you getting spark (even when it doesn't start?) My vehicle (1990 grand voyager 3.3L) does the same thing. Sometimes starts, sometimes not but may (or may not) in a few minutes or hours, etc.. Always has spark. So I have a "fails to start" of about 33% which means it is unreliable to drive and not be stranded somewhere. I've been chasing this problem for months, but my workaround is to carry ether/starting fluid. Squirting a little into the intake (open the air filter box) and it ALWAYS starts when cranked. Otherwise the van runs fine (strong performance, good milage, etc.) It's just starting without help that's unreliable.

I know the ballast resistor is bypassed when cranking to start (and in the circuit for regular operation). This could be my problem and I'll look into it. The ether is easier to ignite than gasoline fumes.

Sluggish engine pontiac g6

Sounds like a transmission issue, have the car scanned for ant transmission related codes. Most transmission shops will check to make sure your transmission is working 100% free of charge. With what you have described, almost sounds like you don't have 1st or 4th gear and your transmission is running on 2nd and 3rd gear. Easy fix if the 1st-4th solenoid needs to be replaced, or the wire harness has gone bad. Start with getting your car scanned and let me know if your transmission is starting on 2nd. Good luck

Audi A4 Cabriolet roof stopping half way open

refer to the owners manual, for instructions to put down roof by hand, they are not easy to follow, however, the manual key they refer to is in the fuse panel, the 1st lock to undo is in the middle section of the back seat, next the lock for the front section push down roof and lock in place. the warning light at this point will still be flashing, and the display saying roof unsecure. the bit everyone seems to forget is to go back to the middle back seat lock and relock, once that is done, display clears, and both roof and boot should work. i have no idea why this fault occured just hoping its doesn't too often. suggest also you always have engine on when operating roof. hope you find this usefull.
