2002 Buick Century...noticed last night that the fuel gauge was acting up, all the way to fuul (when it was not), back down, did this for about 20 minutes into the drive then settlesed about where it should have been. Today, came out from shopping, started right up, but my anti lock, trac off and service vehicle soon (not check engine light) came on, stayed on. Started it 4 hours later and no lights. Car is driving great. Just had the cat. converter replaced about 100 miles ago. All related???

Car seems to run ok, but service vehicle soon, antilock, and trac off lights all came on at the same time....help?

I have the exact same problem as defined in the post with the 3 lights on. I checked for any codes that might be set, and no codes came up on the code reader.

One of the things you will want to check is your speed sensors, some times they will also cause your ABS light to come on, and they relate to your Transmission electronics that is why the Check Engine light comes on.

I just read a thread where the rear wheel sensors wiring harness is known to chafe where it passes through the trunk (just forward of the spare wheel well). It just happens that the fuel gauge sending unit goes through at the same place. If they're both chafed, that could explain why you're seeing both seemingly unrelated issues.

My problem is the same as most others. Anti-lock brakes, service engine soon, trac off lights on. Before they would come on intermittemtly bu recently stays on. Called GM last week and was told to take it...

Your anti lock brake light is part of your traction contol lights so that is most likely a wheel sensor and would be a separate problem from your check engine light.
Do you have an auto parts store near by? They can check these codes for free if so

2 different problems
check engine light = need to have scanned
2 anti-lock and trac light are linked and could be related. yes spining tire can cause trac light to come on

When turning my wheels left or right the anti lock and the trac off lights come on. what is this the brakes work fine

There is an abs sensor in the left front wheel that is the common culprit on 97-2002 park ave, century and regal

My brake lights won't go off even when I cut off the engine, I'm getting a message that says trac off and anti lock in yellow on the left side

Hello: Check the brake light switch. It is mounted on/near the brake pedal before you attempt to repair brake and anti lock lights.

1999 Buick century anti lock signal and trac off displayed when traveling over 60 miles per hour

You will be best off bringing the car in for service. If the anti-lock signal comes on, it means that your ABS system has a fault and you do not have anti-lock brakes functioning. When the light comes on the car runs on your brakes alone, no anti-lock.

To check the codes and the ABS system, the car should really be serviced.

Good luck!!

ABS/SERCICE ENGINE SOON/TRAC OFF LIGHTS ARE ON

Are you sure of the lights? If it is Service VEHICLE Soon, in addition to Trac Off and Anti Lock, it is most likely one of the four wheel hub assemblies. These are sealed bearing units that feed a signal to the computer for the ABS brakes and the tire pressure system. I had one go out intermittently (seemed to be aggrivated by humidity/moisture). I had it replaced, and another one is going out. It seems like they are a bit prone to failure. My Century has 101K, and I experienced the first one around 75K miles. Unfortunately, to tell which one is failing requires a scan tool above and beyond the simple one that most parts stores use. BTW, there was a problem that was fixed just prior to 2002 that was caused by the signal wires going to the left front wheel hub being worn through and shorting. I believe this problem was fixed by 2002.

2002 Buick Century anti-lock brake problems

i recently had this problem too, except i had all the lights on (ABS, service vehicle, trac-off, AND service engine) they are all easy to fix without spending more than 20-30$ for labour (depending how much your mechanic charges you) mine did it for free and he found out why the engine light is on afterwards too. so to fix all these lights (abs, trac-off, and service vehicle you MUST get another ABS cable (i went to a garage, they were towing a GM vehicle to the junk yard so i grabbed some scissors and cut BOTH abs cables on each side (good thing i did because one was bad) and braught them to my mechanic. the reason the lights come on is probably a defect or in my case my mechanic said it was salt buildup in the wires (on the drivers side) so he cut the wire off and rewired the new one and BOOM all the lights came off (service vehicle, abs, and trac-off) now for my service engine it says catalytic converter but im trying to put some fuel system cleaner to help it out i read somewhere that this is a defect of the car, so if you dont have that light yet, SELL your car ASAP for as much as you can get for it (after fixing the lights of course) and always google (car name+recalls) in the search bar to see what youre getting into, take care
