Hey

what sort of clicking? is there any knocking noise when you rev the engin?? if you have engine idle set then it could be the shell bearings if the oil light is staying on (worst case) or maybe a faulty oil switch!! keep it checked for oil and it shuld be ok!!

Low oil pressure at low rpms

Depending on tone and depth of "clicking" it could be anything from lifters to connecting rods or piston pins....

cheapest to expensive:

Replace oil filter

if that doesn't do it (which it doesn't sound like it),

Replace engine...

Because clicking/ticking/clunking noises while having a "low oil pressure" issue (most of the time) means the engine is destroying itself.

My oil comes on when I down shift to come to a stop but goes off when foot on the gas. I also have a lifter making a noise 2001 ford escortzx2

check and change your oil, the light comes on when braking due to the sensor detecting a low amount, and goes off again when hitting the gas because the oil flows back towards the sensor,, check for the correct amount of oil in the system,, changing the oil and filter could clear the tapping lifter , if not a adjustment could repair it

1992 honda accord ex 2.2L \r\nStarts. and run s OK till engine warms-up then it lacks power and idles rough? Service engine (yellow light) comes-on after engine gets warm! Red oil pressure light also...

Hi. This issue has several causes, but the oil light indicator is a strong sign of low pressure in the engine. This will cause the engine lubrication rate to drop, thus, producing a illuminated oil light, and erratic Oil pressure readings. The necessary actions are to have a manual oil pressure test ran on this engine, asap. When running a manual oil pressure test, you will discover if the true oil pressure is low, or normal. If the test proves that the oil pressure is, indeed, low, this will confirm that the Oil pump is suspect.

Now, if the true readings given during the manual oil pressure test are indicating that the pressure is normal, this will be the result of a failed sending unit(oil pressure switch). Although the oil pressure is suspect, this is not your only issue here. There seems to be a abnormal compression rate, present. This is causing the rough idle, and erratic RPMs. I recommend to administer a engine block compression test, as well. This test will discover if , indeed, there are issues within the cylinder heads, and block structure, such as a worn head gasket, cylinder wall issues, and cracked block. Normally, these issue will send signs, like white, or gray smoke out the tail pipe, or discolored oil. It will, also, promote erratic RPM ratings, and a rough idle. Have the oil pressure test, and engine block compression test ran, asap.

Once the test are administered, you will be able to isolate the actual problem areas, more accurately. Check the spark plug wire sets, and ignition assembly for faults, also.

Engine oil light comes on when stopping and idling.

your low on oil. there isn't enough oil to sustain pressure when running at low rpms. add oil to manufacture specs. You can also check the dip stick.

The oil light comes on at times and goes off as the rpms go up. What can be done about the light?

Maybe your engine is idling too slowly, If the revs are below say 700rpm the low pressure warning light could come on especially when the engine is hot.. If the idle speed is ok try a heavier grade of oil in the engine. Next try a new oil pressure sensor. It's got to be one of these things. Check the engine running temperature . An over-hot engine will cause the oil light to come on too.

Engine knock hard over 2500 rpm

Does the oil light come on or the knock occur during the engine warm up after a cold start?
There could be a couple of problems causing the issue. You could have an oil pressure pump or pump pressure regulator sticking. I would have a mechanical oil pressure gauge installed and verify oil pressure at idle and 2500 rpms to make sure oil pressure is in normal ranges.
You could also have excessive piston rod bearing, crankshaft bearing or cam shaft bearing wear that will cause oil pressure to drop too low to prevent the rod knock your hearing at 2500 rpm.
You said a knock and not a ticking noise,so I don't believe a lifter is the issue at 2500 rpm.
Start with the oil pressure check and go from there.
Let me know.

Oil light comes on

Hi, this is an oil pump issue. i recommend replacing this device and the oil screen as well.

The oil pump is a device that distributes the oil throughout the engine. at high rpm's the demand on this device increases dramatically and, if it is malfunctioning in any way, this high demand can not be met and the needed lubrication will be shorted, therefore, tripping the oil light. Most damaged oil pumps can produce enough pressure during low idles but, when the rpm's are increased, the malfunctioning pump will fail to meet expectations. this will cause low pressure and inadequate oil flow. this can also damage the block in time if not corrected.

I would do a quick oil level check to make sure of proper oil level. if the oil level is proper, you will need to replace the oil pump asap. if the oil level is low(1-2qts low), just add to full mark and, run a test drive. if the light illuminates once more, this will confirm oil pump failure and it will need to be replaced.

Remember to replace the oil screen as well.

Please rate and god bless:)
