I just bought a 1998 jetta from a private owner and it did not come with a manual. i want to get the oil changed but don't know what kind of oil to use

Hi, there is no relay, and the plate light run off the same fuse as the tail lights. The problem must be in the wiring or sockets in the back of the truck.
Don't know..especially since you failed to mention what kind of vehicle you have. (YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, etc.) This will be covered in the Owner's manual for your vehicle. these use special oil I would use Mobil DELVAC1 1 5w40. Your owners manual should specify the VW spec. It will list something like spec.VW505.00 If it does not meet spec VW505.00 do not put it in you rcar. Although if you just bought it, who knows what oil has been used.
