I have a 2002 VW Jetta 1.9l turbo w/automatic tranny I want to change it to a 5 speed manual transmission. I have a 5 speed transmission from a 2000 Jetta 2.0l. Is it going to fit in my 2002 Jetta?

The electronics in the auto and manual cars are different (and complex)and it is not just a matter of pulling out the auto and installing a manual box and clutch as you would in a car from the 1970s.
You will have numerous problems if you attempt the install like this.
You would need a box from a 2002 model and you would need to change the ECU and wiring harness and numerous other items also from the 2002 model..

The lower hose of the engine block just behind the alternator is where you will find the thermostat.

Where do i put the transmission oil in a standard car

There is a plug on the side of the transmission--usually fits a 3/8 or 1/2 inch rachet. Fill with gear oil until oil starts to flow back (if oil comes out the fill port, the level is correct).

just thought i would share this with you if you do not have a leak.your car is fitted with a fuzzy logic box.that means it will change gear dependant on the driving style of the user.(light foot low rev changes/heavy foot high rev changes.)some drivers experience a jerky ride(**** driver)others smooth gearchange great fuel mileage.all you can do is check dipstic level(in park) good luck...

How do i check transmissiom fluid 2006 jetta

Hi there,

Jetta's 2006 carry sealed gear box. There is no dip stick to check the transmission fluid. Per manufacturer, transmission fluid requires to change unless there is any issue with transmission. I hope this helps.

1995 jetta 4 cyl. trans fluid coming from bell housing. possible converter seal? I was told it's necessary to remove engine and trans together. is this true? first vw repair for me. thanks

It is most like the front pump seal, or converter seal. You can remove the transmission without removing the motor. It's a tight fit.

Can i put transmission fluid in my 97 jetta myself, or do i have to go to a mechanic? also i can't find the place where it goes?

Yes you can do it yourself.

Make sure it's an automatic. Transmission fluid doesn't go into a manual transmission. (though some manuals do use ATF, and ironically a Yugo uses SAE 30 motor oil)

You'll need a funnel that will fit in the dipstick hole, but yes, you can do it yourself. Check the transmission levels with your car running.
