2008 Escape has a terrible reputation for ABS light and traction control light being. All due to broken ABS tone ring cracked and out of position flopping on frt bearing. Go to local AutoZone store and they will scan this to find which wheel has the broken tone ring. The replacement ring is cheap in the $7 range. It is labor that will sicken you as this ring must be pressed on after the front half shaft is removed. Not a driveway job if you are considering DYI.
Update to ABS tone ring replacement...I had a local mechanic replace the ABS tone ring last Autumn. The ring was cheap but labor to press onto half shaft was $120. I also had to replace the ABS sensor from being banged up by loose ABS ring. It's March and ABS light is back on! After some inspection I found the new ring had worked its way off of seat and made contact with ABS wheel sensor ruining it. I now plan on replacing half shaft and sensor. Aftermarket rings don't stay in place. Save yourself the headache and buy a half shaft for $50 and have it installed for $45. I hate doing the same job 2x.
silly question here. half shaft? like drive shaft? I'm having the same issue and am trying to get it fixed now, just looking for some lamens terms. not a huge car guy but i know enough to understand with a little different terms. plz help

SOURCE: low break pedal ,abs and traction light is on
worn out pads or rotor, possible broken abs cable to brake. first check to see if all 4 are connected. all ore on back side of brake dust shield. than check to see if the brakes are worn last is the rotors. also see if there is a recall on the brake and battery re charge system.
SOURCE: ABS & traction control just went out on 2008 Ford Escape.
Chances are it is a bad ABS sensor. Need to get scanned to know for sure and which one.
Not much i know but I hope that helps.
Hello
The
engine and the automatic transmission in this vehicle are computer
controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is
stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are
exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure
problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done
such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with
a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within
range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is
correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from
a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring
repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM), which is very
rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as
mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune
and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical
issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or
other pressure related problems.
