I have a 1990 jeep cherokee and i need to put the plugs back on the d cap and i was wondering how to do this

If it is a v 6 ....the driver side ft.order is ft. to back is 1 3 5 and the passenger side ft. to back is 2 4 6 If it is in line 6 cyl. it should be 1 3 5 2 4 6 ......metalpoet

if that distributor has ever been out, it may not line up on #1. check to make sure the coil wire is connected tight on both the coil and the cap.

sounds like firing order wrong

sounds like it needs a new gear box. my bmw did this before and it was discovered that there was a prob with the selectronics in the gear box

the firing order is 153624

check the ...PVC valve and the MAF sensor.

The 1987-90 Jeep Cherokee with the Renix Eletronic Engine controls take somewhere between 4-7 revolutions before the computer has enough information to get the engine started.

If it takes longe rthan that, it may be time for a full tune-up:
Distibutor Cap and rotor
Spark plugs
Spark Plug wires
Fuel filter
Air filter
and possibly an oxygen sensor
