My daughter's PT '03 is going through this right now. We took it to the dealer and they found that her Timing belt has slipped off. I suggest that you take it to the dealer and let them run a diagnostic and find out for sure.

Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable for 10 minutes.
If it doesn't fix the problem, there is something biger problem..

It could be your alternator. If the battery light is on thats usualy what thats a sign of and areason it may still run and not accelarate is your battery has enough juice to start it, but not to keep it running. If this is the case try hooking jumper cables to it and seeing if you can throttle it up with them hooked up.

I HAVE A 2003 PT CRUISER AND THE BATTRY LIGHT IS ON NEW BATTERY NEW ALT AND THEY SAY IT IS THE VOLTAGE REG

The PT cruiser uses a field signal from the PCM to regulate the voltage. If you are not getting approximately 14 volts at the battery terminals when the engine is running, either:
  1. The replacement alternator is faulty.
  2. The generator field control signal from the PCM is faulty.
  3. The Fusible Link between the alternator and the Starter Motor (which is also the same electrical point as the battery positive terminal is open.
Use the diagram below and check the alternator output at the point labeled "A11 6 BK/GY" If this is 14 volts and there is not 14 volts at the battery terminals, then the Fusible link is bad. If there is no voltage or way less than 15 volts at the alternator, then the alternator or the PCM field signal is bad. Ensure the connector from the PCM is connected properly.

Yes, i have a 2003 chrysler pt cruiser and i just put a new battery in it now my dash, headlights and dome lights flicker real bad?

The issue seems to be common among the 2001-2005 models of PT Cruiser. Changing the battery (from other answers on other years with similar issues) seems to short out things like the lights and the stereo. Some suggestions for fixing it, if you can't find where the electrical wiring for the lights attaches to the battery/computer, to make sure the wires aren't frayed, the plastic housing isn't worn away, and the grounding wire hasn't been severed...then a mechanic should be able to find them for you.

Check engine light on 2003 PT cruiser GT

If it still runs good disconnect the neg. Battery cable for ten min. Hook it back up and light will shut off. Or spend 75 bu KS and let a dealer clear the code for a 5 dollar part. Then it costs u 80 or more if u don't know where its at or how to fix.

2003 PT Cruiser turbo. Has just 67k miles on it. Just began making a low pitched loud whistle sound on acceleration or load/uphill. Gets louder with greater acceleration/load, no decrease in power.

I took my car to Keller's Auto Repair in Gettysburg PA, He specializes in Chryslers. I have 04 Cruiser with 2.4 Turbo that had the same whistle noise, and check engine light on. He found code P0301. The noise was caused by the #1 Cylinder injector O ring. Check them out on facebook. They will help you.

Pt cruiser alarm fault

Try unhooking the battery for about 10 mins. That should clear any problems and give the alarm time to reset.
