I have a 1999 Tacoma PreRunner P/U. When I have my foot down on the gas it runs fine. But, when I let off the gas...a high pitched chirping noise is coming from under the bed of the truck. I took it to TEAM TOYOTA and they told me that it was exhaust pressure backing up through the catalytic converter when I let off the gasWHAT ???? They also said their is nothing they could do to fix itso my truck is still chirping away. I checked my belts and had my brakes checked so its neither of these. Had anyone else heard of this problem? DM33 mine chirps only when i accellerate. i let off the gas and coast and it stops. what gives with this
I had the same thing happen to me on the same truck, pissed me off so bad i could of parked it on train tracks and wave good by as a train came. look at the driveshaft where it comes out of the tranny, there should be two u-joints, inbetween them is a coupler yoke that is hidden, grease that ***** up and it will stop.
IT'S YOUR REAR WHEEL BEARINGS. To check this problem you need to take off the tires and expose your drums. Than with the expose drum you take it off.......(the drum!) now turn the hub were your studs are, you will feel like a rubbing or pulsating sensation on the hub it self and possible a noise when your turn it. This is process is to check if the bearing is going out. You have to take the tire off completely, if not you will not notice the difference since the tire is so big it is force the bearing in the rotation that you dont fell the difference. This problem is happen to me and this is how I found out. I'm looking for solution on how to repair it by myself. To put a new bearing in since I'm in the military overseas
