Question about 1994 Ford F150 Styleside Supercab

1994 Ford F150 (4.9)

My F150 has developed a starting problem, it will run fine one day and when i go out to start it the next it turns over but wont start. I have determined that I am not getting spark, i have replaced coil, cap, rotor, plugs, inertia switch is working. I have heard that the ignition switch in the column sometimes gets a short in it. Has anyone heard of this or have any ideas?.................................................thanks

I have a 1994 F150 6 cyl. I am having fuel pump issues. It has dual tanks. My problem is that I do not always get pwer to the fuel pump. Sometimetimes it starts every time others it will not. When it does not start the pump is not running. When it is running the fuel pressure is on 45 psi it has fuel injection. I have checked the connector at the the fuel pump. When it does not kick in I have no voltage on the orange wire but have voltage on the other two.

It sounds like the control module mounted on the distributor. It will cost apx 27.00 to buy. it is located on the dietributer and mounted with two hex head bolts i believe 5/32 or 7/32 you will have to use a deeepdish 1/4" drice socket to remove. You also may have to loosted the distributor 90 deg to access the screws I have had had to do this severaltimes b4 also use dielectric grease om the back and in the connectors
Let me know if that works

Is your battery charged up? That is the first thing to solve. Try a jump start and if it runs and stays running chances are you battery has seen it's last days.

My 1994 ford e150 will not start. will not turn over. Battery is fine. I let it sit for another week and tried to start it again and it started just fine. Restarted it many time with no problems. the next...

The symptom your describing is typical of a starter with very worn brushes and or a weak stater solenoid. Change the starter and solenoid so your headaches will be gone. A rebuilt startrer is just fine to use just make sure it has a new solenoid.

NAPA or Autozone have them sitting on the shelf.
Take your old one with you for a core charge.
Thanks for using FixYa!

You should've changed the coil when you replaced the starter. If you could only do one at a time, I would've gone with the coil first. There is a brass plate that gets charred with carbon build up. Your banging on the coil shakes some of it off, re-establishing a good connection. You can sometimes get away with taking it apart and cleaning all off with a mini-grinder or rotary wire brush. This will confirm it for you and buy you time until payday or your next day off.
