Thanks for getting me that info. If you have access to a scanner, you can input resistance to the guage. This will check the guage and the slosh module. If you do not have that equipment, you can do the same thing with a guage tester or two resistors. You will need to locate the connector that on or around the gas tank.It should be a four wire connector and the sending unit wires are the smaller two. The first should be colored violet and the second is black/green. Disconnect the connector and clip one of the resistors across from wire to wire. This can be done using jumper wires.Turn the key on and the guage should go to commanded position. Turn the key off and change resistor value. Turn the key on and the guage should move to the other side.

A 22 ohm resistor is the value for empty and 145 ohm resistor is the value for full. 61.5 ohms should show you about half a tank.

This test is a better test because it checks the guage, slosh module and the wiring harness. If it all checks ok, then the sending unit it the tank is your problem.

I checked my database and there are no technical service bulletins for this concern at this time.

You can pickup the necessary resistors at your local electronics store,( Like Radio Shack), and premade jumper wires.

I hope this makes sense and is helpful.Remember to cycle the key between changes. Goodluck. If this doesn't make sense, hit me back and we can try again.

2000 escort diesel van.interior heater has stopped working, checked fuse and its not that.any ideas ? any thoughts.cheers

likely your blower motor. but take connector off at blower, key on, htr on high. should have power at connector. check with a test light. If power is present, its your blower. If no power, and fuse is good, it's a wiring issue or your heater blower switch on the dash.

I have a 2000 Ford Escort, and i have been having issues with the speedometer not working..then today i realized my fuel gauge, miles, and the c/h guage doesnt work?..is this a fuse problem?

yes there are fuses and relays the correspond to the dash gauges fuses are located generaly in 2 places kick box by your left foot, and under the hood fuses and relays this is general on most cars since its more than 1 item it probley a connection came lose start checking from the fuse box till were the main wire branches off to seperate wires. always good to have a can of electrical parts wash. auto parts store runs about 9$ to 14$. carefully pull apart connectors spray a little let dry and put back together. if that dont work you may have a short while you are in that very dificult possition with a flashlight looking up under your dash look for any signs of water or rust

I was changing oil on my 99 escort zx2 and my wrench touched the back of the alternator and blew the main 100 amp fuse. I replaced it and now the temp guage, and fuel guage do not work and the wipers will...

Have you checked the rest of the fuses? Both under the hood and under the dash. It sounds like you may have also blown the wiper switch. The 'gauge' fuse is suspect, make sure you check it as well. FYI, the oil filter in these cars are hand tighten only.

The gauges have stopped working ? Fuse under dash seems to be OK ?

Behind the dash is what they call a constant voltage regulator. It controls the guages. It's small and located behind the dash near speedo.
