Howdy, 94 Isuzu bighorn diesel. Need to replace front cv boot. Have stripped it all down so the cv joint is exposed and lose but still attached to the shaft. Have cut away old boot to look at what is holding the cv joint on. Can't see any thing so asume that it may have a pressure clip. Have bound the shaft back with rope real firm to the other side chasey gear then slid in and placed a 30mm bar up against the inner cv part all ready to give the bar a decient smack with a sledge hammer ! Is this the right thing to do. ??? Ta Pete.

If you are trying to reassemble the cv joint ( why ever you would need to pull it apart in the first place as the new boot slips over the assembly)
do it outside of the transmission or you will damage the transmission internals
place the transmission end on a block of wood
line up the shaft and hit the top end with a heavy mallet
( sledge hammer will burr the ends )
of you are just putting the shaft back in the transmission to reassemble the front end , line up the splines and use the mallet to start the splines into place by compressing the circlip

This is a simple job that is why it is not very detailed in your book. Nothing special. Do one side at a time so you have a reference to how to reassemble it. Remove your tire , brake calipers be sure not to stress the rubber brake lines or open the brake lines to air. Remove both upper and lower ball joints. When taking out the ball joints remove the cotter pin and bolt and beat the **** out of the joint for it to release. Then the C/V axles will come right out with a bit out encouragement. You will need a few tools wrenches pry bar hammer. I would buy a Chilton's or a Haynes repair manual for torque specs for reassembly. Good luck and take your time. And unless the axles are making noise you can just replace the rubber boots. Which is alot cheaper.

CV axle removal 1999 Isuzu Trooper

The easy way is to take the inner boot off and take the joint apart. Take new cv axle apart at inner joint and attach to the old one sticking out of axle housing. You will need to get new boot clamp.

I have a 1999 isuzu 4wd rodeo 6 cylinder and was wondering if Need to install a new boot kit or if I need to replace the entire front left cv axle shaft. I had a tear in my rubber boot and noted some...

Do not try to get the cv axle out ot the axle housing. It is a major operation. Remove boot and disconnect the inner cv joint and save about five hours of time. The choice is yours ,boot or reman cv axle. You will need to take the reman. axle apart to install it though and some new clamps. Not a simple operation.

94 Geo Prizm CV or driveaxle?

on this type of vehichle, you have two axles in the front; one going to each side. Chances are that the boot at the axle joint was torn and that is why you are having problem. In teh past people used to replace the boot, this day and age its actually cheaper to replace the axle. So you would need to replace that side of the axle (the half shaft).

Loud clicking noise when 4wd is engaged on left wheel when turnin

Check your cv (constant velocity joint) , It may have a big clearance which is the source of the noise when turning left or right and when 4wd is engage. Juts like front wheel drive cars, if the cv joint is with clearance it will tend to sound in the left or right turns. It is not exactly clicking sound , nmore like knocking sound , low in pitch, but not heavy.
