Question about 1990 Ford F150

1 Answer

Truck not running

Lasvegastech; This is an '86 F-150, not 1990. The gas smells normal to me, but what is e-85? Also, what is maf or map sensor? I have the Shop Manual for '86 Truck, but it doesn't mention these sensors. For that matter, it doesn't mention a whole lot of things. Finally, I do have dual tanks, but the fuel lines run directly into the filter/reservoir

Ok e- 85 is a fuel than is actually sell or offer by some gas stations, but it does not have the minimun octane required for most vehicles, also the maf sensor also knows as mass air flow sensor is located at the main breather hose for engine and it is just after the air filter, but if you truck come with a map sensor
also knows as manintake, ifold absolute pressure sensor it will be on one of the fenders and ir by the firewall and it will have a hose and three wire conector atached to it, also the hose is coming staright from the, one mare thing i will recomend you is to use the other thank the one you are not using now because like i said this trucks come with 3 fuel pumps one in each thank and the main pump on the chasis or frame, and the filter reservor is supposed to have 2 lines coming from each tank pressure and retun, and then two more going to engine, if you find it, remove the lower cap, and check or inspect the inside filter by blowing by mouth but if you don't want to blow on it just replace it,

Why is my 2004 gmc yukon 5.3 Z model Burning gas?

Was the fuel mileage better prior to replacing these parts? Did you use an aftermarket MAF sensor? Have you checked scan data parameters with a scan tool hooked to the vehicle for a test drive? I have experienced some aftermarket MAF sensors causing issues. as they are not calabrated properly for vehicle application. They will work, but with side affects such as yours. A road test with a scan tool hooked up and a technician that knows how to interpet the data should be able to give some insight as to what is causing the problem

2001 eclispe gt smells of gas, engine codes p0101, p0107

P0101 is the MAF (mass air flow) sensor that measure the amount of air entering the engine. Not enough air means rich running and a possible cause of fuel smell. Apart from running a little rougher there aren't always many signs that something is wrong.
P0107 is the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor and responds to changes in manifold inlet pressure (vacuum). Problems cause include hard to start, long cranking times, sputtering/missing, blowing black smoke, poor fuel economy.

Common fuel problems in a 2000 cadilac escalade

You problem reside in the cause of the fuel injector not getting the proper amount of fuel this can be caused by the MAP (manifold absolute pressure). To a MAF (mass airflow) you have both sensor, Disconnect the MAF does it stay running and also inspect the MAF air duct for cracks and false air leak,From the MAF to the throttle body. with the MAF disconnected and it stay running the MAF is the solution ,as for the MAP if it can stay running with the sensor disconnected the MAP is the solution

I changed my spark plugs and cleaned my mass airflow sensor with maf cleaner. The truck didn't want to start but it finally did. When if did it had a sulfur smell but went away. The truck wouldn't...

When you cleaned your maf sensor did you disconnect your negative battery cable. If you cleaned the maf senor without disconnecting the battery cable there is a chance that you shorted out the sensor. Try unplugging the sensor and see if the truck runs any different. If it does not run any different with the maf sensor unplugged then you will know you found your problem. I hope this helps you out, and good luck

Repair a4 audi 2004, mass air flow sensor, catalitic converter, car stalls when accelerate.

hi this might not be the MAF but the MAP sensor as this is the thing that normally gives you this sort of fault, the MAF adjusts the air and fuel mix but the MAP adjusts the air and fuel mix and also the timing via the ECM , normally if it is the MAF it will just idle rough and still run as normal, but jerky and bogs down but does not stall, so if anything i would opt for the MAP sensor first before the MAF...hope this helps
