Question about 1983 Honda Prelude

Engine wont start

Car just died on me.Pulled the fuel feed-in tube to the carburretta and found no fuel coming in. Connected the pump direct to the battery and the pump pumps ok. Any suggestions as to what could be the problem? Many thanks.

On some models, the Engine Control unit has a power supply relay. These relays some times get internal dry solder points. After driving for some time the the solder will get hot and separate. When it cools down it makes contact again. You will have to replace this relay or open it up and re- solder the solder joints. The relay is usually located on the main relay station in position 3. the relay station is located behind the right dash panel.[right hand drive vehicles]. You may need to refer to a manual for your specific model to find the exact location of the relay.

Pulled out of my driveway it hesitated than took off went about ablock and died tried to start it and wont start

If there was not service engine soon light, good chances are that your fuel filter has reached the end of it's life and is to dirty to allow the fuel to flow through properly. Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter after you inspect all your fuses to ensure your fuel pump is still working.

Thank you for using fixya and a dirty fuel filter or faulty fuel pump will not set the service engine soon light to come on.

It starts and idles, but if the gas pedal suddenly push to full throdle the engine dies, and when it is put into gear the engine dies

sounds like a fuel feed problem check your fuel pump and your fuel lines.best way is to connect a line from a gas can directly to the fuel pump and put the line from your tank into the can to prevent spillage.then try to start and throttle engine. if it dies that means there could be an in line filter or the pump is bad.if it works then run the hose from the tank to the pump if it doesnt work then its the pump and filter in the tank. if it works then clean the lines between the tank and the pump or engine.

Car starts but need to apply gas to keep it going. Once the gas pedal is released, the car stalls.

Have a look at your fuel sysytem which comprises of injector and fuel pump and the fuel hoses.

Good luck.
