Have you replaced the A/C relay or felt if it "clicks" when the A/C is selected?

I have a 98 jeep grand Cherokee limited ONLY when i run the a/c it overheats replaced the water pump, thermostat, upper and lower hose, there no leaks anywhere only has a mechanical fan how do I fix

By any chance, does the electric cooling fan shut off when you turn the AC on? If so, either the wiring to the fan assembly has been compromised, or the cooling fan relay is bad.

2001 Jeep Laredo has 2 fans at the radiator - are both fans supposed to run all the time?

Hi,
The answer to that is NO!
There are two fan motors on that area. One is for the radiator cooling system and the second is for the condenser( Airconditioning system ).
The radiator fan starts/run when the engine temperature reaches a certain temperature( electric thermo switch on the radiator ), while the A/C fan starts whenever you switch on the a/c.
Hope that clears up everything.
Thanks for asking FixYa!

Engine Cooling problem 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4 cyl

Although the 4 cylinder is too underpowered to have air conditioning in my opinion, it still shouldn't overheat within 10 minutes unless something is wrong. If your Jeep doesn' not overheat when you are driving WITHOUT AC on then your compressor might have a problem and causing the engine to work too hard to turn it.

But if it overheats without the AC on, then the first thing you need to do is check the cooling fan and see if it operates! There has been a lot of problems with the cooling fan relay on this model. If that isn't it, then move to changing the thermostat and checking the water pump.

2001 Jeep GC Laredo - AC cold at higher speeds but blows warm air when stopped.

check to see if the radiator fans go on when the ac is on if not you will need to test for power at the fans this is not only a problem for the ac it can also cause the car to overheat

2001 Jetta 1.8 turbo - a/c intermitently goes warm during idle, and sometimes hear a loud vibration that comes on at off, all during idle.

its prob the cooling fan its located in a housing along with the radiator fan at the front of your engine bay look down when you open the hood . and make sure the fan is spinning run the ac on high and wait ( do this while the car is running of course ) . do not run your ac if the fan isnt working . you will burn up the compressor . the noise and vibrations you feel are from the compressor turning on and off.
now if the fan is working its prob the compressor. if all else fails take it to a mech where they can test it ... its not pricey and its quick
