No. 2001 to 2003 are interchangeable. I am currently looking to replace mine on a 2002 and have consistently been told those years are the same. These babys are pricey, perhaps you can trade your 2004 for one that will work.

On a2000buick century odometer not working

You would need to take it to the dealer or someother qualified repair shop that has the diagnostic tool to check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes in the instrument cluster .
DTC B0570 Season Odometer Malfunction

The instrument cluster receives a vehicle speed input from the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) over the Class 2 line. This signal is used in order to drive the speedometer and the odometer of the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster will compare the VSS data with a 16-point look-up table in order to determine needle deflection. A smooth filter is used in order to secure a continuous response. The season odometer displays the total accumulated kilometers (miles) of the vehicle. This value is permanently stored in the Electronically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM) of the instrument cluster. The trip odometer displays the accumulated kilometers (miles) to the tenths of a kilometer (mile) since the last reset. This value is stored in Keep Alive Memory (KAM) of the instrument cluster.

I own a 1999 Buick Regal GSE with 94K miles. I recently noticed that my dashboard lights sometimes come on, and sometimes don't. Sometimes, during the day, if my dashboard lights are on, and I pull out...

In the 99 Regal, the headlamp switch is also the dimmer switch for the instrument cluster.
With the headlights on, try rotating the switch to bring up the "nighttime" intensity.
If the headlight switch has a pre-set dimming function for the instrument cluster lighting (in other words, not adjustible by rotating the knob), then
replacement of the headlight switch would be the only way to fix the instrument cluster lighting problem.
See Wiring Schematic below.

      1. Remove the push-pin retainers from the top of the cluster.
      2. Rotate the instrument cluster rearward and disengage the locating pins on the bottom of the cluster from the instrument panel. Detach the electrical connectors and remove the instrument cluster from the vehicle.
      3. Installation is the reverse of the removal process. Use care to make sure all installation clips are properly located. Do not over-tighten any screws or they could force their way through their holes and the panel will not be held properly. Squeaks and rattles may develop later.

WHAT DOES THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ON A 2000 BUICK CENTURY CONTROL? WHAT CAN GO WRONG WITH A BAD CLUSTER?

Instrument cluster "controls" nothing. It gives you information from items that are being controlled and it gives you the results of what is going on...speedometer informs you of your speed...flashing light on the left informs you you have selected the turn signal arm to turn left.

What is the problem you are having?
