There is no relay, it is part of the ICM, you can cut the ground wire which will let the fan turn all the time, but that will burn out down the road. Just replace the ICM = $100

Radiator fan won't shut off

Go into fuse box and pull out cooling fan relay this will stop fan.
Then check coolant temperature sensor(CTS) for resistance. You gonna need shop manual for this.
If sensor doesn't match up with resistance spec's replace. If it matches with specs then the only two items left are the relay you pulled and the wiring in the circuit. Test relay for shorts. Back probe wiring for shorts also. Good luck Its usually the relay. But I have replaced CTS's also.

Fans do not stay on long enough to cool engine adequately. they only run for about fifteen seconds and then turn off

I'm not sure if you got my first posting so I'm gonna send it again.
Coolant type should be the pink one , make sure its the correct mixture. Get shop manual and make sure thermostat is the correct one for your vehicle and is correctly installed. Don't forget to check the condition of the water pump/ and its belt. If A-ok at this point here's how it works. thermostat controls engine temperature, coolant temperature sensor (CTS) tells ECU to turn on/off the fan/fans via a relay, relay does the deed.Your gonna need some type of temperature measuring gauge a electronic device is prefered and a digital volt meter (DVM). Some DVM have a temperature probe feature. Use the temperature measuring gauge to see if the thermostat is operating within the specified range. Then use your DVM and shop manual to see if the CTS is telling the ECU to turn on the fan/fans via the rely and if the rely is responding accordingly. I've done two of these vehicles with milage above say 88k and both of them I;ve replaced the relay on. Good luck and keep me posted.

How do u change fan relays on a 92 seville 4.9l.

the fan relays are in with the other relays in the relay box, check the coolant sensor,or just replace it.If you turn on the ac,will the fans come on?If so,the relays are fine.be sure the coolant level is fine, and there is no air in the cooling system. This, along with the coolant sensor are the main causes for this problem. Is the cooling fan fuse good? I hope this will help you.

94' Caprice Fans not turning on to cool motor = overheating motor

Do this test with the key in run but engine off unplug the ECT (engine coolant temp.) sensor, if the fans turn on (does this by default) the system is ok, if not then check the Fan relay. Also look for burning of the electrical connections to the cooling fans.

Replaced fan twice and it still wont run

check the temp sensor on the lower radiator hose. Have it tested by pulling the plug on the sensor. It is located at the end of the hose towards the engine. If you pull out the plug the fan should go on. If the fan turns on you may need to replace the temp sensor. If it does not turn on check the relay usually found in the small plastic boxes under the hood. The cover of the boxes usually has a diagram to tell what the components are.

Starting problems

This is caused by the PCM not powering up. I would replace the PCM power relay in the battery junction box(fuse box under hood).
