Question about Hyundai Accent

Car misses, stalls, then in a few seconds it might run ok. the engine light is staying on but when the car starts missing and stalling badly, the light blinks. when it stops blinking (stays on), the engine pickups power and will run "OK" for a littlw while.

    i have the same problem my car is a sonata 98 v6 and hyundai have replaced the airflow meter and computer at a large cost to me and did not fix the problem my car goes back to them tomorrow so will let you know if they fix it they do think it is the cam sensor

    Have the same problem with a sonata 2000 v6. Got the oxygen sensors replaced, did not change anything. Let me know if fixing the cam sensor helped.

    My Accent (2000) starts but struggles to run for the first mile-chugging/missing- with the engine light coming on and off. If I start the car and let the car warm up for five minutes before moving, it will run ok. Local garage unable to find the root of the problem.

    exactly the same problem.. it started last week when I filled my tank.. pullled out of the station and the engine started bucking.. felt like bad gasoline.. which I thought was odd because it was a Mobil station. Since then the car has been running rough.. it will run ok for a while, then start feeling like it wants to stall.. check engine light came on 2 days ago and will flash when the motor loses power

    When first started it took a few attempts to start it like the revs were too low now as soon as it turns on it over revs when going from second gear to first or stopping the revs go sky high when I took it to a garage the man told me to unplug a wire so the zigzag light stayed on my dash that did help for a day but when you came to a stop with that light on the car would stall, so I plugged that back in. Now even with this wire plugged in or out it over revs

I know your problem, i had the same problem, change the plugs and the wires, my car did the same thing to yours made my car run awesome after i changed the parts

My suzuki lianna car stalls after running for about 20minutes. The diagnostic is saying the oxygen sensor is malfunctioning.

no year car, wow! and no engine 7 option stated. 2 times failed.

ok, that is some great MacGyver stuff there.
pulling the ECT does many bad things,
1: slams the PCM in to limphome mode.,
2: then PCM tries to MIMIC the missing sensor and does a real cruddy job, of that. in call cases.
3: the PCM uses that critical sensor (it never fails) to run dash gauge temp, engine fans, (cooling) and allows the PCM to run on many modes, cold start fuel mix, warm up, hot running and more.
4: you scanned the PCM but forgot the DTC codes?, there are like 9+ DTC for all 02 sensors, some are important (others are smog only)

engine stalls. 101 Gasoline engine, only.
engines stall for many reasons, over 50, (need a list, have one)
and more.
ill attempt to list some common reasons, skipping bad engine actual totally.
(even a loose fuse to PCM can stall any engine, fact !)
PCM is what fuels and sparks the engine, it's a computer brain.

Common: EFI controls and spark. (engine OK)
  1. lost 12vdc to PCM for any reasons, see dash go dead? or head lights?
  2. never giving the engine a tuneup, spark parts and filters.
  3. low fuel pressure, measure it with a gauge,
  4. over fueling or under-fueling for many reasons. ask list of tests)
  5. engine overheating, did it? but with missing ECT only steam out of hood is only clue, and pinging. ouch.
  6. PCM sensors read wrong, (ECT will , its missing) there are many sensors, we use a real scan tool and watch them from key, to start and cold to hot running to be sure all read correctly. 1996 to now .
  7. EGR valve sticks open most cars STALL as you roll to stop.

Got stolen broken ignition got new back tried starting it runs for few mi and stop how can i bypas

somethings missing here. try to tell the full story,
got it back
and what is still broken, phyiscally ??? the key , lock/?
or is the key working? (or are you using the bandits, hacks?)
or runs ok with the key. but then stalls.?
if it stalls ,did the CEL lamp go out too? in the dash CEL lamp at the stall tells you the ECU still has 12vdc electrical power. does it?
do the Head lights work at the stall????
and other electrics???????????

no , you were told wrong, but ABS is bad too. (or was just the stall resetting ABS to self test mode)
you have 2 independent failures.
1: brakes. (if ABS is on,, not stalled !!!)
2: engine. (this is IT, fix this)

you are guessing at ABS parts.? just throwing them. why do that?
my guess is you have a mech, and you want seconded guessing
on line with blind folks here.

the engine stalls moving,
that usually means the ASD relay dropped out, did the IMMO light come on? you need to look at what all lights did in the cluster at stall.
a stall causes rapid deceleration and loss of all engine power
and RPM drops and MPH drops and at the point of stall
all Cluster lamps go ON. they go to key on self test mode as
stated in the users manual. (lost sure)
to witness this, key on, no start, and bingo the self test happens.
those are NOT failures. its just a self test. Per manual.

Does the ABS stay off driving and not stalling or stalled.
yes, then ABS is ok......

did you take it to a shop (crooks) and tell them my ABS is on?
and they see it's out, and go, gee we can make some cash here for nothing. if you tell them wrong, they will in fact guess, and make you broke fast.
ABS can go on just with a bad brake caliper pad. a $10 part.
if car stops ok, and the lamp is out RUNNING !!!!
Then leave the ABS alone. why assume the most expensive part on car is bad, why do that...???? why not put on new pads. and rotors.
first. then test the ABS. ABS is not magic it cant help stop any car with bad manual brakes. not at all.
end brakes; now back to ENGINE.

then fix the stalls,
here is the stalls list, for only the ASD.
(even a tuneup, will end stalling)

THE ASD is the funky Jeep thing, that kills the engine for many a reason. (there are tests for each case failure)

if the CEL lamp comes on driving < NOT STALLED)
then connect any scan tool, to the DLC connector at knees.
and scan the PCM for DTC errors.
then post those.
keep in mind, errors can AUTO clear, so not seeing them
in REAL TIME< means you missed the boat.
that is, you didnt get the facts of the failure.
but errors still in effect are stored and you can in fact
scan them parked, key on.
the CEL is only a SMOG light, you must scan to see the other 100+ errors. possible.

find a real ASE shop, and ask them to fix the stalls, (car stops good)
then they will fix that
and by magic the stalls are gone and the dash lamps go happy.

2005 venture van misses when you,re at cursing speed. stalls out when stopping at a stop light. hooked up to a tester and it showed a bad crankshaft sensor. put one in and did'nt solve the problem

I guess I should start by saying the code did not say the sensor was bad. It probably said the sensor signal was out of range.
If replacing the sensor fixed the code but the engine still runs rough and stalls, it could be a leaking injector or a problem with the throttle body.
You would need to know which cylinder is causing the miss.

Why won't my miss fire?

Fuel injectors may be dirty.. or plugged. The car just sitting there may have caused the gas to go bad which may have given them a head start on plugging from the get go. Get some cleaner for it.
When the dash lights blink, is it unlike anything you've seen it do before?

Code 12 isnt going to tell you anything. Find out what cylinders are misfiring and go from there.
