Question about 1998 GMC Sierra
4.3L engine, travelling highway at 100km/h, approached a hill and when depressed gas pedal RPM's went to 3000 or better but lost power, speed reduced immediately to 90 and started to drop lower. Released gas pedal and everything seemed okay until tried again and same problem. Could continue on as long as I didn't push the engine, Replaced air filter 3 weeks ago, fuel filter and tune-up maybe 2 years ago, regular oil changes, and new fuel pump about 16 months ago, also fuel pump was always loud but seems to be louder recently.
Have fuel pressure checked if ok should be approx 60psi.if ok try disconnecting mass air flow sensor connector to see if problem is eliminated. this the computer in to a default mode.the sensor is a common problem.thanks from schleck
