Question about Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

My daughter has a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The speedometer died. The overhead displays keeps saying the antifreeze is low when it's full. Rear right brake light keeps blowing out. Feedback on the radio. The car stalls. Taken to mechanic. He removed the dashboard, applied a fix. Worked for 2 days and same problems all over again. There is a greasy substance oozing out on the floor at the front passenger seat.

The mechanic fixed the speedometer problem. The gauges located in the dashboard were not working for two days. She said she had a power failure (no working lights, car would not start). Car starts and everything is working.

Front passenger seat indicates a leaking heater core, and those are not cheap/easy to get to or fix.

Rear light keeps blowing out.. how often?

Car stalls, tune up is in order...

Feedback in the radio indicates a faulty radio, replace it.

The antifreeeze is low issue indicates the sensor in the antifreeze resoirvor is faulty.

Professional opinion? Get rid of the junker and get your daughter something safer.

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, V-8. Yesterday, I was driving and it started overheating. Reserve and radiator were both full with antifreeze. We replaced the thermostat and still overheats. ...

check for blockages in the piping, this may be blocking the flow of the antifreeze.
Also check the coolant you are using it needs to be a 50-50 ratio of coolant and water in most cases. Please go by the manual.

What kind of anti freeze do i use for 2000 grand cherokee 6 cyclinder

You must use a 50/50 blend of ethylene-glycol and low mineral content water. This is the ideal solution for Jeep Grand Cherokees within your year. Don't use all water or all antifreeze. You can also use Mopar 5 year antifreeze available at your dealer but it cannot be combined with any other type of anti-freeze so your old anti-freeze will need to be flushed out.

The car keep overheating, there is water in the radiator and the resevior tank 2000 jeep grand cherokee i check the oil their is no water found in the oil the water from both unit stays full

Sounds like your thermostat is stuck closed. Shouldn't be more than a $20 part from autozone and is simple to replace. Follow your top radiator hose to the motor and it will connect to your thermostat housing. Disconnect the hose (antifreeze will run out) unbolt the housing, and replace the old thermostat. Refill radiator and bleed the system.

Does the rear axle still pull when in 4-hi? If so, then I'd say the shift fork on the transfer case is bent or worn.
