Question about 1998 Ford Escort
89k miles on it its an 89 lx. Just to keep from stalling i have to put the car in neutral and give it gas. my muffler is detached atm from hitting a speedbump. Somebody mentioned it may be the pcv valve, if so thats a cheap fix but i wanted to see what other problems it could be.
Clean the Idle Air Control Valve and the Throttle Valve with carb spray, it that doesn't help replace the IAC. You do this with the engine running, have someone hold the idle up or it will stall out, then disconnect negative batt cable for 5 minutes, this should cure the issue.
