I am sure that you have heard this already but it is the first thing that comes to my mind. take a look at you drive shaft and ensure that it is still in working condition. it sounds like it has slipped out and that is causing the motor to run and the car not too. let me know if this helps you out at all.

There are a LOT of things that can cause an engine to not start. The fuel pump is only one of many in a long list. Also, hearing the pump motor running does not mean it is delivering the correct amount of fuel pressure to make the engine run.
Proper diagnostic testing needs to be done to determine which SYSTEM is causing the problem (Ignition? Fuel? Engine mechanical problems/ low compression?)
Either the timing belt/chain/gears has failed, which can really change the sound of cranking, but the engine visibly goes around.
If the engine does not turn (as it sounds is the case with your car), but the starter spins fast enough to be described as sounding like a hairdryer, then the starter drive is bad and the starter will need to be replaced or rebuilt.
The starter drive is turned by the starter motor, and the drive in turn turns the gear that engages the flywheel of the engine. The part that turns that gear will not let the starter motor be pushed by the engine — it has a one-way, overrunning clutch in it. If the engine got a chance to spin the starter, the starer would simply explode. It is maybe 10 or 15 to one between the engine. One good start using the gas pedal would spin the starter like 15 to 25 thousand RPM...
If that overrunning clutch fails the starter motor cannot spin the gear that turns the engine.
depends if yours has the flat panal filter or the round type both can be changed for a k&n performance filter wear you never ever replace it again only clean and re-oil at every service
the round type is on the front lower side pass side 3 spring back clips hold the front cover on
the panal filter is squire and has 3 or 4 spring back clips just lift the lid and change
Make sure all your injector connectors are clean and not corroded. make sure you have the correct resistor sparkplugs. And if both of those things are okay you probably have a bad direct ignition cassette.
If your getting power to the top of the pump at the harness and its not running, pull the pump back out and check the two power leads to the pump insert are connected. Jump power directly to the pump insert. If no go, looks like you got a defective pump. Justin Strictly Saab Melbourne, FL
