1998 Porsche Boxster - door lock does not work on the driver's side. The key will actually turn a complete circle and won't catch anything. The key still works on the passenger side, but it still won't lock the drivers side. Seems like something has fallen out of place.

SOURCE: manually openning the trunk of a 2002 porsche boxster

It can only be done using the key fob. Othersise use button inside the car. If your battery is flat you need a donor battery wiring to a connection in the fuse box (positive) anf door lock(negative) but see your hand book.

SOURCE: key lock on drivers door won't unlock the door

you need to take the door panel off, there is a rod in there that connects to the lock cylinder it frequently pops off, there is a little plastic clip that should hold it on to the cylinder it may be broken!!

Try replacing the battery in the key. It may be too weak to engage lock.

SOURCE: 1998 Toyota Corolla Electric Door Lock Problem

You'll need to replace the solenoid (motor) that doesn't work. Not hard once you get the door panel off. I suggest you buy the correct part, not a universal one.

I had the same problem on my 2004 Boxster.. It is the outer ball joint.. I filled a Syringe with liquid grease and poked it through the Ball Joint boot to squirt it in.. Problem solved and small hole in the boot not noticable..

1998 porsche boxster, battery is dead on car, and

This is a common problem. Your alarm was on when the battery went dead. When the alarm activated, the hood/bonnet opening lever locks to prevent thieves from opening the hood in case the top is down. Some boxsters have a jumper post the pulls out near the fuse box. However, I do not think the 1997-1999s have this post.

Buy a male-to-male cigarette lighter adapter at the auto store. Connect between your car's cigarette lighter socket and the other car's cigarette lighter socket. Do not try to start the ignition or the any other electronics. You should not even need the key in the ignition. You should be able to pop the door locks with the remote and open the bonnet.

Hi I have a porsche boxster 1997 and my passenger door wont open at all, when i go to unlock the driver's side unlocks and the car beeps twice. Please help

Might be the central locking system. Try using the key in the door (rather than the remote control) to deactivate the security system. Also make sure that the center console is completely closed (this is part of the central locking system).

I have a 1997 boxster and the central locking does not work, the doors all lock with the button on the dash, but the key fob wont work and if you lock it with the key it only locks the drivers door?

I connected a cigarette lighter (male on both sides) between my car and another car. Do not start the car, just wait until the battery has a little charge. The front bonnet should open allowing you to replace the battery. You will need to recode the radio (http://www.a2dvoices.com/realitycheck/porsche/ )

Alternative: Some newer boxsters have a red power post new the fuse box.
