If the client overhauled the engine, removed the crankshaft
and the balance shaft with the balance shaft chain, and did not mark it
before hand, no way that I know he can align/time it.
To my
knowledge, the best possible solution is to buy an aftermarket or
original chain which then has markings and illustrations/diagrams for
the timing as well as instruction set.
Even the service manual is vague on this since the factory installed chain has no markings (which perhaps may be the reason his timing is now off).
