Question about 1990 Acura Integra Hatchback

Acura Integra is Hesitating when I apply the gas badly!

When the car is in idle it is very low idle and feels like it's going to cut off, and I need to put the automatic shifter down to neutral for the idle to smooth out. The car is an Acura Integra 1991 LS 2dr hatchback. When I press down on the gas it is starting to hesitate badly. I did an oil change and added injecter cleaner into the gas tank and still it's hesitating. I also got spark plugs and today someone told me that it's the transmission going bad. Is their any true diagnosis to my Acura hesitating?

You were right to look at plugs first. Since you replaced those...

Your distributor cap is the next bet. It will get corroded and you lose your strong blue spark. When you apply the gas, there isn't a strong enough spark on your plugs to give you what you're looking for. This is a cheap plug and play fix.

Lastly, an often overlooked problems with hesitation is the exhaust. Does your exhaust leak? Have a hole in the muffler or pipes? Poorly directed exhaust (even before it gets loud) can lead to all sorts of performance problems, lost horsepower, hesitation and stuttering.

Cheapest possible solution is the fuel filter. it is a black canister on the firewall with two steel fuel lines going into it. Beyond that, it could be your fuel pump ($100+) or your distributor(200+) . Check all your vacuum hoses for leaks. It will have to be driven by a mechanic to determine the true diagnosis.

Make sure that the plugs you changed were the recommended ones for your car. I own a 2000 integra and a boyfriend decided he wouldn't listen to me and put new plugs and wires other than the platinum plugs that it called for. i had problems with it and i went and bought the platinum ones and it ran fine after that. always change the distributer cap along with the plugs and wires.

if you allready change spark plugs and wires. try cleaning or changing both of the O2 sensors. primary located underside of car, behind center of engine. and secondary underside of vehicle, top of catalytic converter.
you also have to check and clean Throttle grid, iac valve and map sensor. both located in the top center of engine. (Throttle) next to air intake hose.
make sure all connectors are clean and making good contact.

I HAVE AN 87 ACURA INTEGRA.I WONT GO OVER 30 MPH WITH OUT JERKING OR SOUNDING LIKE ITS OUT OF GAS. I HAVE A FAIRLY NEW FUELPUMP ON IT NEW FUEL FILTER AND CHEKED THE FUEL PRESSURE 60PSI . IT CRANKS AND...

If one of the sensor goes bad, you will see PGM-FI check engine light would come on.
The normal fuel pressure for this car is between 36 to 41 psi.
Check for pinched or clogged fuel return hose or piping.
Check the fuel pressure changes by removing the vacuum tube on the top of the fuel pressure regulator and next check the pressure this time with pinching on the return hose that is attached to the pressure regulator.
You will need to put a shop towel over the return hose and use pliers.
If no change in the pressure reading, replace the fuel pressure regulator.

Is it getting gas?? Is the fuel pump working?? A 1990 could have rust in the fuel tank plugging up lines, filter or the pump. Or the fuel pump is not getting power. Just a few thoughts.

91 ACURA INTEGRA GS SHUTS OFF WHEN I START IT UP

suggest the first thing you do, is to pull the codes off the ECM, and go from there...more than likely it's a TPI, idle sensor or fuel pump relay thats dirty or sticking thats causeing the problem...
Your local AutoZone can perform the scan and explain the results to you...free of charge.
Good luck, hope this helps, please rate me a fixya.
