The engine will bolt up with little trouble, however the rest will be a problem. Depending on the engine you will need to bypass the transfer pump and switch soleniod if it has duel tanks. Also the transmission should have a least a lockup torque converter that will require a PCM to operate. If you going this route and live in a any that is not subject to emissions inspection I would recommend replacing both engine and transmission, also the 5.7 will problable to supply sufficent torque for a truck of this size. A better fit would be a 7.4 liter and a 4L80 trans. Either way it will be a rather expensive conversion that will result in lower fuel economy.

Where can i find manual windows that are compatible to a 1990 toyota 4runner? And what does swapping out automatics for manual entail?

i would just swap the doors, lots easier than taking the door apart, removing your window motor, regulator etc, and then having to install the window crank, replace door panels etc. Me? id just swap the whole door, 6 bolts out, 6 bolts in and your done! ( per door)

Had codes run on my 2001 Jaguar s-type 4.0. Was told it said misfire in cylinder 6. Where is cylinder 6 loacted in the firing line?

  • Below is the firing order. As you look at the engine from the front #6 is on the right side second cylinder from the front.

  • This is a coil on plug set up. That means the wires wont just pull up like some engines. There will be a bolt (probably 8mm or 10mm) that will need to be removed then the coil can be removed up and out. At this point the spark plug will be removable with a deep socket and a ratchet.

  • The misfire could be the plug, coil wire or a crack in the coils.
  • Some things to try is replacing that plug and clear the code and see if it returns.
  • Swap coil wires and see if the code follows the placing of the coil wire that was on # 6.
  • Swap the coil packs and see if the code switches to the other side of the engine.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

Can,t get truck to fire ,just put fuel pump in . checked fuses, made sure fuel is pumping

the truck has to have the basics . Spark fuel and compression in that order. Remove a plug wire from a plug either remove the plug or install a different one in the end on the wire and crank the engine with the plug laying on engine ground in good view and see if there's spark. Being you did'nt mention what motor is in the truck, desiel. 10 cylinder gas 8 cylinder gas 6 cylinder gas 4 cylinder gas I can only guess at what kind of engine were working on. The gas engines have spark plugs as the desiel has glow plug heating system and direct fuel injection. Silveradoo is a trim level and theres 1/2 ton 3/4 ton 1 ton and 1 1/2 ton versions. They all have fuel pumps and if they have more than on tank or a desiel they can have more than one. The gas engine v8 has troble with the ingtion and the module is the most likly for the cause of no spark but the mileage wasn't stated so I have no idea where to start. if it still is'nt getting fuel with the new fuel pump it's still possible that is'nt running or if it is its wired backwards and is pumping backwards. If the fuel pressure checks OK (above 50 lbs. that part shold work. Below 45 lbs they might run but they won't start. Compression has to be good 100 lbs or more on any engine. most chevy engines are much more in good shape.150 or even as much as 220. low compression and it was running OK the last time it ran sort of says the timing chain skipped as the compression normally does'nt go away quickly. The exception to this is overheating and racecar type blowups. some engines after overheating will have little or no compression and if started with added fuel and revved up they can unstick rings and or valves. and go back to normal. the reason for the overheating needs to be found as this happens again the motor might not come back to life.
