I would like to if i take my 96 monte carlo to shop. how much would it be to get a fuel pump put on, i all ready have the part just bought the car for a cheap steal.

HI..
On your 96 Monte carlo.
The Estimated TIME on Hour Labor is : 2.4 Hours.
It's nessesary remove the Fuel Tank.
The price to replace the Fuel pump, Will depend of The Hour Rate of the Repair shop that you choice to take the car.

Its not that hard to replace the pump on this car hads long the fuel line are not rusted .to replace you may pay from $85.00 to $ 115.00

it is easier to test fuel pressure no pressure no pump easy test for pump have some one turn on key as you listen to fuel tank with gas cap off ear to filler hole. pump should run 2-3 seconds and shut off

How to check a 96 monte carlo fuel pump to see if it is ok


get a second person have them sit by the driver side rear wheel, turn the key in the on position an listen for a buzzing/humming noise (it will be noticable). also you can put a fuel pressure tester on the fuel line that goes to the fuel rail

where did u get the fuel pump from? the fuel pump might have been bad or the pressure in the fuel system isnt where it should be, you might have air in the lines

96 monte carlo coolant problems;changed thermostat,added coolant,fans came on; car overheats and coolant hot light comes on and car shuts off


Is coolant flowing through the radiator? Possible water pump, radiator blockage, or air flow to/through the radiator blocked or restricted. When the fans come on is there warm air coming from them?

Timing for 96 Chevy Monte Carlo


put number 1 piston so its on top then adjust distributer rotor to that piston from there you can scink it by ear by turning the whole distributer you will be able to hear the diffrenceand smell it if you getting too lean or heavy your spark plugs will let you know also.
