The cooling fans only come on when the engine gets to a certain temperature, they are not on all the time when driving above 40 MPH but will come on in stop & go traffic or when stopped at traffic lights after a short period......hope this helps....cheers

What is an engine cooling fan...can you feel it come through the ac vents?

The engine cooling fan is located on the front of the engine between the radiator and the engine block. You do not feel it through the ac vents.

Cooling fans not kicking on until its too late and sometimes not at all and it is the 3800 SC motor . i dont realy want to hard wire them with my stereo and soon to be replacement rear air system it dont...

I presume the problem is overheating? Be sure you are using a new 195% degree thermostat...these motors are usually not a problem of running hot...the best thermostat is the new "fail safe" design. This thermostat is designed to freeze open if fails...never closed to cause overheating...a few more bucks but worth it. This is a huge cooling system on your Buick...could be early signs of failing water pump, or restricted radiator flow...sometimes just needs a new radiator cap. Hope this helps.

How do i locate a thermostat for a 95 buick riviera and how do i replace the radiator and thermostat myself. thank you

Generally the thermostat housing is what the upper radiator hose connects to. It can be held in place by 2-4 bolts. When you unbolt it, the thermostat is right underneath and puls right out. Take note of the orientation of the old thermostat and ensure that you put the new one in the same way. To remove the radiator first remove the upper and lower hoses, then remove the transmission cooling lines. You will need to remove the fan shroud and the upper crossmember that secures the radiator at the top. When that's done, simply lift the radiator oout. Reassemble in reverse order. When you refill the cooling system, use ditilled water rather than tap water.

Where is the thermostat located on 1997 buick riviera

Hello smack609: My name is Roger and I will help you. To locate the thermostat follow the upper hose from the radiator back to the engine. The upper hose connects to the thermostat housing. Drain the radiator and remove the two bolts at the housing. Remove the housing to locate the thermostat. Reverse the procedure to reinstall. NOTE: The coolant system will need to be purged of air. Filling and starting the engine is not sufficient to fill the cooling system. Locate the bleed ports and open them. One is located on the thermostat housing. With the bleed valve open fill till you see coolant and no air bubbles. Start the engine and warm up. Watch the temperature to make sure it does not over heat. You may need to purge the system more then once. Do not assume the system is full until the coolant fan cycles at least twice. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. This way I know it was helpful. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Vehicle runs hot and overheats, no thermostat, fans run full speed, waterpump appears fairly new, flushed and cleaned radiator and still same problem

I would have the radiator roded out by a radiator shop, this of course requires removal of the radiator to complete the rod out.
