Question about 1991 Ford Ranger Supercab

Stuck in 5th gear

I have a 91 Ford Ranger ext cab. 2nd gear went out first then all gears went out. Sometimes clutch would fall to floor when pushed, but now clutch has
good pressure. Cannot shift into any gears though. Check tranny fluid, it
was very low. Was told it was slave cylinder or forks or needs new clutch
kit. Thanks in advance.

2001 Ford Ranger clutch system was all replaced. Pedal is soft and slave is not disengaging fully. I have tried to bleed the system in every way possilbe. Master was replaced as well and bench bled several times i've tried vacum bleeders and bleeding on an incline. It just seems like it won't get rid of the air. Anyone have any other ideas??

That just recently happened to me. If your stick wont move into any of the gears, then you need a clutch. But if you can shift into the gears but dont go anywhere, then you need a new transmission.

does the clutch push normally or is the linkage broken not disengaging clutch, and then does shifter move around or locked and wont move, loose linkage in shifter or gears are jammed inside transmission and something went, if shifter wont move at all then trans is jammed inside and needs repair.

I have a 1995 Chevy S10 4.6L 2WD Ext Cab truck. Just replaced the transmission and have bled the system. I started the engine and I cannot shift into first gear without grinding the gears. Any suggestions...

If you can see the slave cylinder actuate, then have someone push the clutch down and watch for movement. You should see the release lever move at least a half inch. Let me know if you get movement. I also would like to know if you had the flywheel machined and if you removed, replaced, or added any shims between the ****** and engine block.

It sounds like the clutch needs replaced or the clutch cable. You can try readjusting the cable but more than likely it has stretched to far and needs to be replaced.

Have a manual transmission in our 04 Ranger. 500

You could have a problem with the clutch actuation system. It could be the master or the slave cylinder. Does the clutch pedal feel funny? Look under the steering column and locate the pushrod at the top of the clutch pedal. If it is wet where it goes through the firewall, then the master cylinder needs to be repaired/replaced. Raise the hood and check the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir and refill if necessary. Look under the truck and locate the slave cylinder on the side of the transmission. If it looks wet (oily), replace it. Bleed the system of air bubbles.

It is possible to drive the truck without a clutch. You have to start it in 1st gear. Accelerate gently, then take your foot off the gas and gently pull the gear shift into 2nd. When the engine rpm drops to match the transmission input speed, 2nd gear will engage. Repeat the process with 3rd through 5th. It will take a little practice to do this well, but you can do it.

2002 Ford Ranger Clutch Problems

It's not the clutch, it is the clutch slave cylinder. Check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder and you will see that it will be empty. The problem is the trans has to be removed to replace it.

have you check the slave cylinder to see if its moving when someone puts there foot on the clutch.
And check the adjustment on the master cylinder.
