Well it sounds like the fan is kicking on late.It could also be the thermostat is sticking.Make sure you have the right mixture of antifreeze and water 50/50.Antifreeze has a high boiling point than water alone.Make sure the fan is coming on.

Changing gears and the temp gauge have nothing in common. First, check the coolant level. If gets low an air pocket in the engine will cause the gauge to go high, then back to normal. Next would be to check the wiring. could be the gauge/sensor wire is shorting to ground.

My temp gauge goes up until its in the red and it takes like 5 miles for this to happen then it will drop back down in to the normal. i have no heat comming out it just started to do this all of a sudden....

Your thermostat is sticking or your radiator or heater core is blocked up. If you keep running it like this you will blow the head gasket or worse (warp the heads or block.) if it's not already the case.

Hi! The MAF (mass air flow) sensor is surely faulty. The MAF has big contribution on the engine performance specially on the idling an vacuum supply. If the MAF is faulty the rpm will drop eratically or die. Regarding the overheating problem, you may want to check the radiator blower for it may be tripping that sometimes it works and sometimes won't. This can be a good cause. Temp gauge up and down

It is IMPORTANT That you Correct This ,as Engine Temp is Important. I Recomend the Coolant Temperture Sensor Be Replaced to Correct this.
